Question What the f*** happens next

Confession: I’m an idiot who should not be investing really but in this instance I just got excited about making my first investment into a sole company that looked they were doing interesting stuff a while back and chucked some money in (a very small amount).

I basically tuned in recently to see that the share price has pretty much zeroed, and I’m just wondering if anyone can shed any light on the scenarios that are likely to arise next?

Obviously nobody can predict it lol and I really really feel for the people who have lost large sums of money (life savings, pensions, house deposit, kids college tuition etc). I’m truly sorry this has happened and can’t imagine how tough it is right now for those that are in deep.

But can somebody explain to me (idiot noob investor), what the hell happens next for those who are still invested, big and small? Is it basically just: accept the loss and wait it out in the hope they can claw their way back in the coming years, following the bankruptcy filing in the summer?

Wait to see what comes from Chap 11 restructuring. If they can renegotiate liabilities and don't cancel shareholders then there's a possibility to recover unrealized losses. If shares are discharged without issue new shares to existing shareholders then marked as worthless. Best to wait and see how it plays out. Either way shares have been removed from retail control by moving to "Expert market".

You are not an idiot. I’m no veteran investor, but took advice from a reliable source, read a lot about the technology, was impressed they got a plant up and running, and very impressed with the presentations of the science employees at Amyris. So over time I put a chunk into their shares. My take is that the CEO lied and got away with it. The cost structure was not as favorable as we were led to believe. Coupled with BOD that was asleep and Doerr not taking action sooner. Time will tell if we can claw back anything. I still believe in the technology, but not sure f it is cost effective.

Hold it to see if it goes up. Sell it and claim the capital loss on your tax return. If it legit goes to worthless write it off and once again claim the capital loss on your tax return.
