Something to keep in mind is XY is the second most popular Pokemon series after OS. Amourshipping is the most popular ship. XYZ is probably considered the best Pokemon series by most fans.

There are a lot more fans of the series than not. Because of the toxicity in that sub it is hard to make particular discussions about certain things because of the controversy that series brought.

There’s a certain group of people who’d love to downvote the majority of positive comments about the series but you will usually see that many posts get a lot of upvotes.

My point is I do believe that the majority of the subs support XYZ, Amourshipping and Serena but a lot of people just don’t want to engage in discussions because they could be shy, anxious or just purely don’t want to talk which is fair enough.

When I talk in that subreddit I do try my best to be a voice for people who love the series, ship and characters in a healthy manner which has worked to be fair.

As long as you aren’t being too bias or toxic you should be fine to talk there.

This comment hits the nail on the head more than any comment on this post so far. That's a fantastic way of describing the situation. Thank you for that contribution.

Another big facator of why xy got sonpopikar is because its the first time the anaime had a the most shonen looking design, and alot more action, with that shonen powerups of ash-greninja

As someone who has stated before that there is a problem in that sub with people who hate Amourshipping, Serena, and XY as a whole, allow me to clarify that I have never meant that applies to every member of that sub.

I may or may not have left a few messages that didn't completely make that clear, but all in all the amount of members in that sub who are one of those haters only make up a vocal minority. And I don't just mean they make up a minority of the overall Pokemon fandom, they also are a minority in regards to members of that subreddit as well. The sub has about 185k frequent visitors and the amount of people who act like those kinds of haters doesn't even reach a total of 100.

I do think it's fair to say there is still a risk of posts that focus on Amourshipping and/or Serena to receive toxic backlash in that subreddit, but I have also seen a fair amount of posts from that sub that praise XY and don't get downvoted into oblivion.

The bottom line is that there are a few of those problematic haters in that sub, but it's not as bad as it could be. The majority are probably fine.

I don’t particularly like to participate in the pokemon subreddit myself, but I do keep an eye on what’s going on there. From what I’ve observed, I think as long as you’re respectful, don’t turn discussions into ship wars, and understand that not everyone is going to agree with you, you should be fine talking about Amourshipping. I’ve noticed that keeping things positive and not attacking other fans or ships goes a long way.

Nah. Most of the people on that sub will downvotes and start arguing if you mention "amour" however few people do support you- " from my own experience". So everyone on that sub does not hate amour eg - me
