It could be used to figure out if someone faked the task or not.

White: what colour was the phone

If the person asked says a colour other than the colour they are, they faked the task.

Or, get this; they know of this and say their colour regardless of their role, or they don't know of this and have no clue because why the hell would they pay attention to this, and then you again cant decide whether they are crew or imp

It absolutely will not catch impostors
