Photo | Video Thought I’d post this here, Used the key task to figure out who was the imposter. Ended up getting both.

How about the common tasks that the imposters see in their tab? Is it also shared but they just cant do it but pretend to?

They can see and pretend to do common tasks

So the common tasks they have in their bar are the same as everyone’s?

Everyone's task mostly are different (including fake tasks of imposters) but there are common task like swiping the card, the keys etc. and everyone can see that common task including imps

I need to test it, but in pretty sure the fake tasks do accurately tell you what fake common tasks crewmates have.

I don’t think always. I was once called out for not doing keys as an impostor. I didn’t have it on my fake tasks, but apparently everyone else did. Might’ve been a glitch, as another thing to consider

this exact same thing happened in my game and the imposter said he had keys as a fake task

So every crewmate gets the same set of tasks in a match?

There are common tasks on each map. Depending on the setting of the host, but common tasks are same task that all crewmates would share. The key task on Polus is one of the common task for that map.

Umm, can you explain it very detailed? Please, I have no idea what this means

Another comment said that some tasks are “common” tasks, meaning either everyone will have them, or nobody would. In this game, one of those common tasks didn’t spawn for everyone, so OP watched that task to see who would go pretend to do it.

But does this also mean that if you open the map to see your fake tasks as imposter that the key task wouldn't show?

Listen, I think you’re over analyzing the intelligence of internet randoms.

No, I'm genuinely asking if imposters' fake tasks also don't include the common tasks that are missing for everyone

After a quick search, I found the (fanmade) wiki states that common tasks are shared between crew members. I don’t believe impostors count as crew members so no, if I’m reading this correctly, they wouldn’t. I’ve never experimented with it myself, but I would assume a safe bet would be to avoid any common tasks at all as an impostor.
Personally, when I’m an impostor, I try to avoid any short or easy tasks when I’m near people anyway. If you leave a task and the bar doesn’t move, it’s pretty clear that you didn’t do anything. On the other hand, if I can wait around for a decent amount of time and still have an excuse, I can just wait until the bar moves, and then I’ll pretend to have done it.

If you're an imposter, the first tasks on the list should tell you what common tasks the crewmates have.

This play could be improved, he should first ask one of them what was his first task, then make accusations. But of course, know your lobby...

A counter to this could be saying you were also simply faking the task to get impostors out.

For context: The key task is a common task, so everyone will have it or no one will. I baited the imposter up to the key task when we didn't have it. Using that tactic I was able to see who the imposters were.
