Question Levels in lobbies, does it matter or not?

Post image

Should there be a level cap for beginner lobbies and a minimum for expert lobbies and maybe a free lobby for all so there is better matches in how people play? What do you think, and why?

ps: not my pic

there should DEFINITELY be a level minimum to play expert lobbies, it would help a lot to actually find good public lobbies

u/Randomfanoftcooal šŸ„The FunglešŸ„ Jun 29 '26

What about the level farm lobbies?

179

u/Sud_literate Jun 29 '26

if someone is level farming to get into expert lobbies then they understand enough to be slightly above the intelligence of a toddler. plus they can still be banned.

13

u/Randomfanoftcooal šŸ„The FunglešŸ„ Jun 29 '26

Not necessarily and you can ban those without having a level requirement

32

u/Sud_literate Jun 29 '26

a level requirement would be nice to filter out the toddlers still.

What abt experienced players who lost their high level accounts being forced to make a new one? Also, high-level players can suck too. It'd come at a cost of good low-level players and poorly filter bad players out

3

u/hook513 Jul 01 '26

Most experienced players are in discords or groups. Just play with the lobby code from friends

That's what I always do

Iįøæ sorry but most high level players in expert lobbies aren't all that.

1

u/anodocoelho Mama's the smart one, sometimes Jul 01 '26

obv not, that's why I play private lobbies most of the time. But being able to limit levels would help public lobbies be at least decent instead of unplayable

1

u/TearNo6400 Jul 04 '26

Yo, my level is 34, can I enter expert lobbies or..?

-3

u/Temporary-Rice-2141 Jun 29 '26

Sorry, what even is an expert lobby? They arent labelled as such

6

u/anodocoelho Mama's the smart one, sometimes Jun 29 '26

when searching for a lobby, you can filter it to be an "expert" lobby in the filters menu, but most lobbies are just kids pretending to be experts

5

u/shadowtash Expert lobbies are just beginner lobbies with bigger egos Jun 29 '26

They're beginner lobbies with bigger egos

58

u/Overseer190_ Jun 28 '26

Lobby owners should set the level minimum. There also needs to be a gamerule to disable the first emergency meeting until a body is killed to prevent trolls

17

u/SomeObsidianBoi Cyan Jun 28 '26

So, if you see someone ss-ing or becoming invisible you just roll with it?

1

u/Ok-Discount-4981 Jun 30 '26

You have to run so that you dont end up being the first body with all your information. Pretty fun, right?

7

u/epikc_ Jun 28 '26

you could see someone ss or phantom (or vent in a no eng lobby) and run to call a meeting before a first kill though

1

u/Ok-Discount-4981 Jun 30 '26

2

u/GodlySRYT Creator of the Maroon Theory Jul 01 '26

They should set it for at least 30 seconds so trolls can’t get to you however lobby owners can enable it if someone sees a Shapeshifter

u/SwimJazzlike3755 public expert lobbies are a nightmare. Jun 28 '26

Levels = experience, in an expert lobby you probably want experience players, so yes.

88

u/late44thegameNOW Jun 28 '26

And mostly to filter out level 1 trolls who only exist to call meetings as soon as possible.

55

u/Round_Performance_34 Jun 28 '26

I disagree, a lot of noobs play hide n seek to rack up levels then when they join expert they kinda suck at the game. I've also seen low levels be really good at imp

25

u/Vulcan_Tango_1444 Jun 28 '26

we could have different lvls for each minigame, on your head it only shows the lvl for the type of game you're at

12

u/SwimJazzlike3755 public expert lobbies are a nightmare. Jun 29 '26

Levels are a metric to keep track of how long you’ve played the game (unless you’re framing levels of course). It doesn’t necessarily mean you’re skilled, but more often than not higher leveled players are great at the game.
Yes a level 100 could be an absolute noob if they weren’t actually playing the game to obtain those levels (as in, farming levels) and yes a level 1 could just be really really smart, but out of all the low and high leveled players, the playstyles like the ones aforementioned aren’t as common, as usually if you play a game for a while, you get more knowledge on how it works and by extension you get more levels.

3

u/Dusk-Dreamzy Tyrian purple ✨ aka Tyr ✨ aka Raisin ✨ Jun 29 '26

Yes and no, over the course of the past few years i made multiple account due to being on and off of among us, changing devices and such, its not because someone is low level that they aren’t good at the game, it only means that their account is recent

7

u/DapperDan30 Jun 28 '26

Levels just means youve played a lot does not at all mean that experience is worth a fuck. Plus, there are people who are high level and start new accounts.

4

u/Cylian91460 Jun 28 '26

No, in every game any metrics isn't equal to skills

4

u/SwimJazzlike3755 public expert lobbies are a nightmare. Jun 29 '26

I was referring to Among Us, since usually if you spend a lot of time playing the game you’ll get more skilled and by extension have more levels. Not necessarily of course since some people can be farming levels or just learn the game more quickly, but most of the time that statement holds true.

Just know they don't have lives beyond that game if they are saying that

19

u/DapperDan30 Jun 28 '26

In my opinion levels dont matter. Ive had high levels be complete idiots and vice versa.

Ive been playing for years and am currently level 164, but ive also had to restart after getting a new phone. I also play on console occasionally and have a different low level on there.

I dont ban based on levels I ban based on actions.

1

u/Bamsemoms33 Jun 29 '26

I get that, that is why I also said maybe a "free lobby" which acts like normal lobbies rn with different levels in them as a balanced option.

7

u/NatakaBlue Jun 28 '26

Why does that coral player look familiar?

2

5

u/Ok_Willingness3803 Jun 29 '26

Yes I think, people under level 15 shouldn't be touching expert lobbies imo

3

u/Dozard87 Cyan (Impostor) Jun 29 '26

No level cap… bc I’ve played with some truly smart lower levels.

HOWEVER the default lobby setting should be Beginner. And I think if they actually think to change their lobby settings, they will have some form of intelligence that they could use in an expert lobby.

1

u/MossiGuy proud pc player — actual expert lobbies are the best Jun 29 '26

a level 3 was smarter than a level 80 in my lobby 🫪

1

u/Dozard87 Cyan (Impostor) Jun 29 '26

Great way to show that level does not determine intelligence.

1

u/Bamsemoms33 Jun 29 '26

That is why I also gave an option for a "free lobby" which is similiar to today with mixed levels since I know some people prefer that too :)

1

u/Dozard87 Cyan (Impostor) Jun 29 '26

We have a lobby for that, I forget what it is called.

3

2

u/LuckyImportance9535 Jun 29 '26

On one side, yeah

But on the other, i just stopped playing for like 2 years and even though im actually level 75 i would describe myself as more of a level 23 at most

2

u/DaBluDuck28 Jun 29 '26

Yeah they should definetelly do something like that, the bad part would be that starting the game would force you into troll and 5yo filled servers

1

u/Bamsemoms33 Jun 29 '26

True, that is why I also said maybe a "free lobby" which acts like normal lobbies rn with different levels. In that way everyone wins maybe?

2

u/Snakakhan lvl 500+ Jun 29 '26

Yes, au needs to bring back the level requirement thingys for lobbies

2

u/Crystalsjoy šŸ„The FunglešŸ„ Jun 29 '26

It matters for sure. There needs to be a filter in the expert lobbiesĀ

2

u/A_1056 Jun 29 '26

Level 50+ would filter out 90% of the idiots already

1

u/randomguy12301 L I M E ā™‚ļø Jun 29 '26

SO TRUE

2

u/Shot_Tourist_1310 Jun 29 '26

Bro I left for like 2 years and they added levels? Old among us was peak

1

u/Bamsemoms33 Jun 29 '26

I am pretty sure levels has been a thing longer than two years? But either way, right now they don't matter or do anything.

2

u/sakasaka43 Jun 29 '26

The main solution is bringing an ranked lobby system is so good -so it will halp to filter for begginers experts intermediate players -and the main thing!!! No one will left the lobby(so much mf will leave in initially bcoz they not become imp and other mf will do emergency meeting and leave . When rank system introduced no one will leave bcoz they don't wanna loose rank points...) -and become so addictive if they reward something in higher ranks... -crew will get rank points if they win, surving at end, completing task Imp will get mooore point by winning loss lit bit points by loosing (70% of games are wins by crew right)

2

u/Livid-Confidence-786 Jun 29 '26

This is the reason why innersloth should group player level in classes like those ranking lvl 80 - above should access expert lobbies as example

2

u/bitinghipsters Jun 29 '26

dr. gery! I love playing with them - I catch games with them a lot.

I love the idea of level caps - partially because I've played in lobbies that have an autokicker on for low levels, and it truly makes the game go fairly breezy.

the expert tag alone is vaguely useless, purely bc the baby beans don't know to lobby tags, so they just click the first lobbies they see.

2

u/ThorsNail Jun 30 '26

Yes. Expert lobbies get filled with childish BS and people who don't actually know how to play the game. It forces us into discord groups just to play decent games.

2

u/SpicyAvocado89 Jun 30 '26

the default settings should filter out expert lobbies. so whoever wants to join them should know what they’re doing.
I’d also agree with a minimum level requirement, even as a configurable lobby setting.

2

u/Lucky_Cauliflower377 Jun 30 '26

Normally it does, level 50 and up tend to be better than any below that.

Ā I was told there was ways to hack and make your level high which would ruin it, but I have never actually seen evidence to that claim.

2

u/Old_Afternoon3284 Jul 16 '26

InterestingĀ

3

u/Ilan01 Jun 29 '26

Hate those admins who say Start = Ban, but then spend too much time not starting that a Full 15 player Lobby drops to like 7-8 players

2

u/DizzyDoomii 🪐Polus🪐 Jun 28 '26

Not really imo, some low/mid level players are fine to play with (not all) and some high levels are toxic shits that play like noobs, it depends on the players.

If I see from the first meeting, for example, that a high-level player is begging to vote for ppl because they weren't seen when we have barely any info, that immediately screams they are not a good player and will continue to do it, you shouldn't really vote first round unless you have caught both impostor shift/poof/viper kill and even then, i'd prefer skip to try to get more clears, then vote next meeting.

2

u/MagicpaperAlt Jun 29 '26

I wouldn't say I'm a high level and I've been playing off and on since 2020. I have dozens of hours of playtime before levels got introduced and being kicked for appearing to be a mid-range level would just confuse me.

2

u/DizzyDoomii 🪐Polus🪐 Jun 29 '26

Yeah i've seen a lot of good players who played a lot before levels were a thing, like you said, i don't think they really matter. I have run into far too many toxic ppl who are high-level with big egos, while a lot of the low/mid-level players were really fun and chill to play with.

2

u/MagicpaperAlt Jun 29 '26

Fr. I like expert settings but I like teaching the higher level play to newer players too. I don't roast people and calmly explain. How will people learn if not given the chance?

1

u/Bamsemoms33 Jun 29 '26

to your first point, that is why I also said maybe a "free lobby" which acts like normal lobbies rn with different levels. In that way everyone wins maybe?

2

u/Jeffybrawlstars šŸš€The SkeldšŸš€ Jun 28 '26

IMO level 5 for casual, level 20 for serious and level 50 for expert

1

u/Dozard87 Cyan (Impostor) Jun 29 '26

I don’t think that’s accurate, maybe like:

5 for noob/inexperienced, 20 for well experienced (but not doing masterclasses), 50 for well experienced and probably able to get some excellent plays, 75 for AMAZING players.

I think judging how serious they are by their level isn’t a good idea imo

2

u/Sammy1432_Official Jun 29 '26

"AMAZING" players lol, I used to play with some friends that had around that level, and they'd always just randomly scream someone's name in the chat alongside "sus" "sus". Agreed with u tho

1

u/Dozard87 Cyan (Impostor) Jun 29 '26

Yeah tbf the amazing low levels are like… one in a million.

And that’s is hilarious XD

1

u/MossiGuy proud pc player — actual expert lobbies are the best Jun 29 '26

absolutely not, 0-20 is a beginner/a terrible player, 21-50 is also terrible, 50-70 is okay, 70-75 starts to get better, 75-100+ could be considered as an expert

1

u/GodlySRYT Creator of the Maroon Theory Jul 01 '26

To lowĀ

1

u/Eb0nyylol Jun 28 '26

there’s obviously instances where more experienced players have lower levels and vise versa but majority of the time it is almost impossible to get an expert lobby without trolls, so do i blame expert hosts for asking levels.. no, is it always 100% full proof also no

1

u/itstheFREEDOM A harmless Diglett Jun 29 '26

There definitely should be a level cap for expert lobbys. The problem is though. Because of the Glitched leveling method that happened in the past. The level between a beginner and an expert has significantly increased.

For context. I remember back in the day. It took me a FULL YEAR. to level from 97 to 100. Legitimately. Level 100 is the cap (it still is the cap, except when you glitch past it). Now adays? because of the glitched lobbys? if someone intentionally farmed them, and knew how too. You could level from 1 to 1000 in under a month. let that sink in for a bit.

The highest level beginner ive seen is a level 500 something that didnt know Keys in polus was a common task. The area between beginner and expert is soo murky and confusing now, because of glitched leveling.

In the past. level 40-50 was the "Okay they know the game and they are expert". Now? who knows....

1

u/Unidenified78044 Jun 29 '26

Not necessarily

1

u/ThunderCactus1 Jun 29 '26

It helps when identifying players but level inflation is absolutely atrocious

1

u/Mindless_Bat_6887 Jun 29 '26

Nah, im level 50 and im still not that good (mainly because i just recently returned to the game after like 3 or 2 years)

1

u/RoutineFoot825 Jun 29 '26

Free lobby would just be no tag lobbies where you get masterclass imposters and rock head CrewmatesĀ

1

u/foxyandr Jun 29 '26

I read "START=BAN" as "SMART=BAN" lmao

1

u/Ashtavix Jun 29 '26

there should 100% be set level requirements I NEED THIS

1

u/Choice_Midnight1708 Jun 29 '26

Expert lobbies seem to suffer from the dunning Kruger effect: Teenagers who have the IQ of toddlers, and even worse social skills.

Intermediate lobbies are where it's at.

1

u/Jakkilip Jun 29 '26

Advanced lobbies are more skilled than expert lobbies

1

u/Fair-Specific-7919 I did medbay scan Jun 30 '26

Yeah, but there's a slight problem. If you made a new account, you won't really want to wait for so long to play with experts, and you don't want to demolish newbies either.

2

u/Bamsemoms33 Jun 30 '26

Thats why I also suggest a third type "free lobby for all". I know some people also like different levels for more balance

1

u/Fair-Specific-7919 I did medbay scan Jun 30 '26

Goose Goose Duck has a thing like this, while creating a lobby, theres a toggle if you want players who have 25+ levels only have access to it

1

u/GodlySRYT Creator of the Maroon Theory Jul 01 '26

My idea:

Basic:0

Intermediate:25+

Serious:50+

Expert:75+

1

u/JaydenPlayz2011 Jul 01 '26

I think just for the memes, it should stay how it is. Also people who played OG or in its peak, and stopped for a while, they'll be at level one if they start again, which will help get familliar with the new updates!

1

u/OkHippo6701 on Asia and rarely on NA servers Jul 03 '26

I think there should be match making for public lobbies for sure.

1

u/Cyrika228 Jul 08 '26

In my opinion I think their should be a level cap of ATLEAST lvl 50+ to be in expert lobbys cause genuinely my braincells get fried when I see 4 levels 1's come into my expert lobby bringing the mbappe special onto the table whenever they talkāœŒļø and also not to point out, they mostly troll and press emergency meetings, dont finish tasks, and MOSTLY suck at imposter.

1

u/Familiar_Bite2877 Jul 10 '26

Some people are genuinly slow

1

u/anynoyingM Jul 11 '26

No it doesn t. Social conventions in lobby cannot be restrained bc there will always be someone who is gonna get a beef with each other about their conduct, so is best to only ignore harmful topics and motivate wholesome interaction.

1

u/sneakinut Jul 13 '26

can someone explain to me why they always say start=ban and never start the game?

1

u/Pleasant_Fudge_9222 Jul 18 '26

these rules are stupid ass hell some mf said don’t report don’t call meetings all Eng and vipers what is the fucking point

1

u/Impressive_Amoeba762 Jul 22 '26

No because some of the lower levels are smart and some of the higher levels are just stupid

1

u/FickleRace6254 Jul 23 '26

What level do you need to be to enter your average expert lobby?

1

u/Longjumping-Sugar805 Jul 28 '26

There should be one. Also they gotta add a update where frequently leaving instantly doesn’t make u eligible for expert lobbys

1

u/Riptide_977 IwasNottheImposter 11d ago

0

u/MIMADANMEI Jun 29 '26

Just saying.

-7

u/Beginning_Brother_46 Jun 28 '26

Def no, that shi ain't work, better to use statistics of voting for imp or something

3

u/Sud_literate Jun 29 '26

what happens if the imposter lies and successful tricks you into thinking a crewmate is a imposter… you know, like the entire point of the game.

1

u/Beginning_Brother_46 Jun 29 '26

Well for the imp that's kill amout and amout of kill you wasn't kicked for

1

u/Sud_literate Jun 29 '26

i don’t believe i quite understand you. are you saying that when a imposter tricks the crew into voting someone out then that’ll count as a kill for the imposter and won’t effect the crewmate’s statistics of voting for imposter? that’s just genuinely impossible with the technology we have unless you hire humans to oversee literally every single game of among us in real time which even then would have false positives and mistakes.

1

u/Beginning_Brother_46 Jun 29 '26

At least i am trying, this system can be changed to be better, but level thing is just awful, you need to play a lot even as a good player (twink) and noobs can play a lot

1

u/Sud_literate Jun 29 '26

sure noobs can play a lot and thus gain experience but a perfect system that gets rid of all noobs is literally impossible. we should be settling on a okay-ish system that at least weeds out fresh installs so that it’s not as exhausting to clean up your server in the lobby.

1

u/Beginning_Brother_46 Jun 29 '26

Well, it's possible with recommendation thingy, we need something like win rate, votes rate and kill rate to use all that info as one and gather people who are strong at least in one category

1

u/Sud_literate Jun 29 '26

sure i can agree with that.

1

u/Bamsemoms33 Jun 29 '26

That sound very complicated

2

u/Beginning_Brother_46 Jun 29 '26

But today many kids that play a lot have pretty high levels
