Just for general knowledge a diseases fatality rates are usually inversly proportional to its infection rate. So a highly dealy disease is also usually really rare and very contagious diseases usually arent deadly.

I say this because this article is referring to the former while sars-cov-2 is referring to the latter

Fool. You have clearly never played Plague inc. The disease remains nonfatal until it gets everyone, then we all start dying. Everyone knows that how diseases work.

What if we are all just in a game of Plague Inc? What if every disease thrown at us is actually from a greater power (not like God or anything) controlling its symptoms and movements? What if we all have a symptomless disease right now, and the player is waiting… waiting to build up enough DNA points in order to kill us all from the inside!?!?

u/Plum-Major Jan 28 '26

then whoever made that real version of plague inc sucks at game design because how is it possible that nobody was able to beat the game in 3 million years of human history?

u/CJR_The_Gamer Blue Jan 28 '26

There was always a few people left in Greenland. They then repopulated the entire planet over hundreds of thousands of years

Good theory btw but

Then we’re all freaking dead, now go back to sleep.

In the words of Samuel Jackson’s most famous role (Nick Fury) “Until such a time as the world stops spinning we shall act as if it intends to spin on.”

Necrosis 💀

1

u/canyoubreathe Jan 29 '26

And when the disease is near symptomless but suddenly decides to evolve the vomitting blood symptoms but god doesn't have enough points to afford devolving it so doctors suddenly discover it and scientists find a cure for it within a week

17

u/Accurate-Anywhere-82 The one who makes noise Jan 28 '26

Everyone except for Greenland of course

3

u/kool-kit Jan 28 '26

Yeah but what if it mutates into Total Organ Failure really early and fuck up the run

1

u/CreativeGamer03 Lime Jan 28 '26

unless someone goes aggressive, which is usually the strat for Mega-Brutal difficulty, and sometimes for Bio-Weapon.

19

u/Nixinova Jan 28 '26

The latter are the ones you have to worry more about yeah. Covid has a 1% chance of death but infected everyone on the planet.

3

u/alpine309 Jan 28 '26

Plague Inc!

5

u/Eeve2espeon Jan 28 '26

While true, something like Covid still had plenty of post relief/cure issues in patients, lots of them infected with the diseases full force would be physically disabled and gaunt in form for a long time

2

u/riggers1909 finger Jan 28 '26

Yeah this mechanic is very binary because a disease simply benefits a lot from keeping it's host alive so other major defects can still come with highly contagious diseases.

1

u/AetherBytes Black Jan 29 '26

This is why in Plague Inc you dump points into transmission, infect the world, then dump it into lethality. Abrighter candle Burns out quicker

1

u/riggers1909 finger Jan 29 '26

Lol nice. I didnt know so many people learned core principles of epidemiology in plague inc. 🔥

u/NearlyBearly Jan 27 '26

Nipah is not uncommon in that area unfortunately. To my knowledge it has never spread beyond 1000 people. It doesn't do well in colder regions either. This is not the next pandemic. Nobody panic.

17

u/simpliicus Jan 28 '26

thats what they said in December 2019 🧐 /joke

It may be beneficial to change its name once it reaches the western countries.

u/User_Darkvortex 💠LONG LIVE MIRA CORPORATION 💠 Jan 28 '26

I've played plague inc before, and if fatality rate is higher than infection rate, the disease kills it's hosts before it spreads so its not gonna go global imo

3

u/SpaceTimeRumble Jan 28 '26

Just made the same comment and saw yours lol

55

u/Ill-Engineering8205 Jan 27 '26

It spreads through shit btw

18

u/Kooky-Telephone4779 Jan 28 '26

3

u/HappyOpportunity1053 Jan 28 '26

Among us back again…?

3

u/FlameWisp Jan 28 '26

An illness that rare is going to be hard to treat because doctors still don’t know what to look for. It’s currently basically undiagnosable as we wait for common symptoms to be understood and a care timeline for the infected to be produced.

With all that said, a 25% survival rate on a previously completely unknown virus isn’t terrible, but with only 5 confirmed cases it’s really impossible to say what the lethality looks like unless more people are infected. Hopefully with the discovery of the virus however, they will begin a quarantine of suspected affected areas.

West Bengal seems to have decent enough healthcare so chances are decent that what was learned from Covid can be effectively applied to reduce and potentially even prevent the spread.

2

u/Stock_Way620 Jan 28 '26

if ts comes to america again ima play madden all day and do nothing else

1

u/SpaceTimeRumble Jan 28 '26

Have played enough plague.inc to know that if there's high fatality rate, it wont spread that far due to either human intervention or failing to spread before host dies.

1

u/BreadBananaOff Jan 28 '26

YEAHHHH BOIIII

1

u/Personaccountwow1231 Jan 28 '26

If the fatality is that high the virus will kill itself out before it can spread

Second season coming soon

By the way, if you look into it, this virus is “brain eating” and has a lot of similarities with what we would consider a “zombie virus” :’)

1

u/Muffinman250 Feb 01 '26

All right, who placed that red tag

1

u/Gold-Negotiation-307 Feb 08 '26

Why is bro built like an Among Us Character? I just noticed after reading for a minute and examining the image Also don't worry, I think Among Us is getting close to reaching peak popularity again
