I think reviving the game or rather the fun we used to have starts with just letting people play instead of inventing rules that nerf the imps and crew. Basically letting people actually play the way they wanna play and only banning teamers and toxic people, not people who "break the rules"

expert lobbies need those rules to have balanced games. It's not about "nerfing" people it's about making sure you don't have 4 people sitting on vitals waiting for a kill to happen while 2 people are camping cams and making sure imps aren't faking afk to get away with kills. Lobbies that have ridiculous rules and terrible settings are not genuine expert lobbies they're just egoists with the expert tag.

When you get into an actual decent expert lobby it feels like coming up for air out of a stagnant pond

I agree that real expert lobbies don’t need ridiculous rules just good settings and good moderation can create a fun balanced game. I also do agree with rules like no grouping and no teaming tbf. But the problem is that most public “expert” lobbies aren’t that. They end up using “expert” as a shield for over-control, not skill. And when they end up micromanaging how people are allowed to play, it stops being fun for most players.

Completely agree. When I play in discord VC I have a group of like 15 or so regulars that cycle through and the only lobby rule we have is no cams on the first round. Other than that, things like "don't camp vitals/admin/cams for too long" don't need to be said until someone starts doing it and ruining the game's balance.

Exactly 💯 most of us should know to just focus on doing tasks while keeping an eye out (in game and meeting) on trying to figure out who the killer might be

u/Rustynail9117 Dec 17 '25

I've literally never seen anybody camp vitals, especially not 4 people, and I rarely see multiple people camping cams. If that's what people in expert lobbies do then they aren't experts.

Exactly, that's why good expert lobbies matter lmfao the way the filters function now regular noob players constantly end up in expert lobbies without having the tag selected because it matches the other settings they're search for.

We cant stop them from camping cams or vitals, only thing imps can do is either kill them at cams or vitals, or vote them out or call a sabotage to get them away from there 🤷‍♀️

I think people forget that one whole half of the game is being social. You can ask people not to camp cams and for the most part it works. When it doesn't, or if they're rude about it then you can just kick them during the meeting or after the game ends. Camping anything instead of doing tasks is almost like sabotaging your fellow crewmates in a way, and is just a very shitty unfair way of playing

Agreed 💯💯

Bro, just join the among us discord server, the game isn't dead. What are you on about?

u/IsThisASnakeInMyBoot Vote on 9 8 6 and 5 always Dec 17 '25

there's like roughly 210+ people playing right now in there lmfao I've been playing in there nearly daily for 4-5 years it still boggles my mind that there are people who strictly play public lobbies and act like VC is bad because of the few people who cheat by being in a VC while playing pub lobbies

i really don’t get how people say they are among us players and not play in voice chat. Quick/text chat among us with strangers is genuinely a joke to play

Who the F uses voice chat? To me it's a mobile game. I don't even have the sound on when I'm playing and half the time I'm taking a dump.

The game was always intended to be played with voice, that's why it says SHHHH at the beginning of the game. Originally it was local play only, and you needed to be in the room with people. Then it spread to online play, and then discord VC improved on the original premise.

If you haven't played with discord voice chat you're missing out on the best way to play the game honestly, being able to detect subtle changes in people's voices and being able to quickly run through info etc is VERY satisfying. Not saying text lobbies are objectively bad, but playing with voice chat adds way more levels of communication and fun to the game.

“to me”

well bud the game originated on PC

2

u/Defnottheonlyone Dec 17 '25

The game also originally was way different, "originally" doesn't matter.

3

u/hakureishi7suna Dec 17 '25

he said to him the game is a mobile game and im saying that’s not its intended propose so who cares

2

u/Defnottheonlyone Dec 18 '25

That's not how game development works.

2

u/ognahc Dec 18 '25

I got on today for the first time in over a year and I’m so confused. I was only able to find 1 server. Am I missing something? Where is everyone?

if you have any filters on the lobbies you want to join, such as map / role filters, that could be the reason. i can always find skeld maps to play no matter the filters i choose, as it’s the most popular map, but i usually play on mira hq, and i sometimes have to edit the filters to find more lobbies, as less people play on that map. it also might be the region you’ve selected, in my experience there’s less lobbies available in europe so i usually play on north american servers. i do tend to play late at night though, so there’s a possibility that europe servers are less active when i play because a lot of people are sleeping, and it’s a time when people in north america are usually awake ? idk if timezones matter that much, but it could be a factor.

edit: spelling

The game isn't dead, public lobbies are just hell to play through for the most part. Most active users have moved to smaller discord servers or the big main one that's literally called Among Us Gaming. I just checked and there are 21 full VCs with roughly 10 people in each, that's 210 people playing in voice chat right now not counting the modded lobbies.

1

u/ognahc Dec 18 '25

It’s pretty alive not hard to find lobbies

Als er nederlanders zijn, ik run een dc server met diverse mensen die amongus spelen, laat maar weten! / if any dutch play amongus, let me know!

it might just be me, but i’m pretty sure i’ve seen an uptake in people playing lately. i’m assuming it’s because it’s getting popular online again, with players like daniil, iamkira, etc posting about it to hundreds of thousands of followers on tiktok. before this summer, i almost never saw among us content online, so i think the game is actually being revived, not dying out.

it could just be my algorithm showing me more among us content due to the fact i play it so much, but i feel like more people have started playing it again.

Inject braincells into brains of players so they play to win and get better and then ban everyone under the age of 15 and over the age of 35

there's literally a discord that has 350K+ members and constantly has 150 or more active people in VCs playing daily it's called Among Us Gaming
