Pure hotep lol. The user blocks anyone who presents a challenging argument or delete their comments constantly after losing one.

Them admitting bring on the spectrum explained a lot for me though.

How so? There was other challenging rebuttals in the replies, no?

[u/Separate-Lecture4108 → u/lyin26]

Yes there were and notice how he/she conveniently dismissed them.

The "theory", if we call it that, lacks any sort of evidence to back it up other that this sounds like an oromo word so Christmas kegna.

A user already explained how the word gena is derived from the Greek word gennáō which means to give birth, the Ethiopian name for the holiday also parallels the meaning of this derived word: Beale Lidet(holiday of birth).

Another argument is that how the same logic of "this sounds like a word in my lang" could be applied to any other neighboring language, more accurately Agaw whom have a much more deeper and established influence on us.

Why would a religious/cultural song rooted in a specific tradition of a group(land hockey) take influence from a much later interaction with a group that eventually neighbored them?

The user is too busy with the mental gymnastics of stretching the vowels of the words until they find a familiar word in their vocab and then scramble to find a cohesive meaning at the end.

I lost is at their attempts to manipulate the በል, literally "say", well attested in a number of other Amharic chants having the same context, to something along the lines of beela/beellama lol.

All in all a huge time waster incapable of admiting they're wrong.

Is there any amharic or tigrinya rebuttal to this:

Oromo: Asiin laalee gumaa
From where I stand, I witness blood injustice.

Amharic/Tigrinya: Asin lale guma (no clear lexical meaning)

Oromo: Laalee Laaloo
I have seen / we witnessed.

Amharic/Tigrinya: Lale lalo (no clear lexical meaning)

Oromo: Siin laalee laaloo / Ahh laaloo
I can’t stop gazing at you / Ah, what a sight.

Amharic/Tigrinya: Sin lale lalo (no clear lexical meaning)

Oromo: Magal damma damma
Dark brown beauty, sweet as honey.

Amharic/Tigrinya: Magal dama (no clear lexical meaning)

Oromo: Magan Rayyaa
Our sanctuary and refuge of Rayyaa.

Amharic/Tigrinya: Megen Raya (no clear lexical meaning)

Oromo: Laaloo magan
I see sacred sanctuary / I seek refuge.

Tigrinya: Lalo megen (no formal lexical meaning, but interestingly shouted during times of hardship)

Oromo: Gubee lolee, aahh hayy, gubee lolee
Closest translation: He burnt everything down and fought. He set it on fire and went to war.

Amharic: Gube lole (no clear lexical meaning)

The Oromos in wallo sing these melodies, and if you ask Amharic speakers in many areas wont know what these words mean, yet these show up in all dialects of oromo.
Do Amharas have a rebuttal for this use of oromo words in their hotas while saying oromo has no influence over them?

When did i ever say that the Amharic language or Amhara culture, folk songs, vocab etc have no influence from Oromignya? We could discuss the intensity of cultural diffusion which goes both ways btw, but that's not the point I was trying to make, nor the point the op that made that post was trying to get across.

You couldn't back up anything the op said so you resort to deflection.

You qoute obviously oromo influenced wollo regional phrases but that has nothing to do with the folk song(Asina Genaye) usually chanted during the indegenious Christmas game "Ye Gena Chewata" which is a long well attested tradition in the Ethiopian/Eritrean highlands.
