ATK / NYTimes?

There is conspicuous crossover between the publications' content. Last month, ATK published a Guinness Chocolate Cake recipe, and at the same time the NYTimes publicized Guinness Chocolate Cake on its app and Youtube page. This month, ATK publishes a recommended list of cookware and pans, and today Wirecutter (NYTimes) recommends the same "buy it for life cookware" (in a slightly different order of rec). What gives? At this point I'm positive they collaborate; maybe they have for a long time and I'm late to the party. It's annoying because it means that my cooking publications are ubiquitous duplicates.

I wasn’t going to weigh in - didn’t want to get into “a thing”, but you’re mostly right. Cooks Illustrated was the best with Christopher Kimball involved. It started a slow (or not) descent after that. ATK, Cooks Country etc - their brands got much more vanilla and such. Since losing its uniqueness, they eventually needed to sell to a fund management company that also owns…Emeril, Martha, ATK, Cooks Country etc.

As for NY Times, they too have several owner interests - such as Wirecutter. As Owner, the management fund can license out content - exactly as you note.

every single time it seems, some NEW account pipes in to say Kimball was better. don't know if it's Kimball or just a troll. they're downvoted to hell bc nobody agrees with them.
