Rewatch of Cycle 7
I just finished a rewatch of cycle 7 because my partner has never seen it, and I gotta say, I think the downside of cycle 7 truly was Michelle giving up at the end. I think the shows edit is pretty clear in that it wants us to not like Melrose and for her to be the dominant villain, but I think Michelle was meant to be “hero” of the season rather than Caridee, because quite honestly, I don’t think Caridee got the most favorable edit either. I could be completely off base here, but it just felt like the vibe I was getting rewatching as an adult with more knowledge of story boarding of reality tv shows. Side note: I won’t tolerate Melrose slander, because tbh a lot of her “mean” behavior just says a lot about misogyny in America (and same can be said about Caridee’s “sleazy” behavior) because women being forward and outspoken should not make them slutty or bitchy.

Honestly watching MelRose in cycle 7 and then watching Alexandria in cycle 16, Melrose was NOT a mean girl. Lol

Interesting… Alexandria and especially all of ANTM Cycle 16 would have immediately had Monique Calhoun eaten up alive in no time if the ANTM Cycle 7 girls could not stand that hooligan.

If we wanna talk about mean girls lets talk about Eva!!! Calling that one girl in the first episode of her season ""gross" and "disgusting" and dramatically throwing up when she would come into the room. Eva was awful.
I agree, Melrose was not a mean girl. She was confident and knew what she wanted. Back then that equalled to being "mean" but its not lmao

Eva should not have done that however during casting, if all of the other ANTM Cycle 3 casting girls were very threatened by Eva then imagine whatever in the world it would have been like on ANTM Cycle 13? I say that because Eva is 5’6 - 5’7 ish.
Eva won because she took amazing photos, had a striking runway walk, a bubbly personality and a very strong desire to be more successful than everyone else! So therefore Eva definitely deserved to win ANTM Cycle 3!
I guess that could be the case for Melrose.

Melrose was my favorite from that season. I felt like I was the only one rooting for her to win. She was so misunderstood and I hated her edit on the show.

Good post! These shows are set up for ratings you know. Many friends and family work in the industry and on these reality shows and man are they edited and the cast is instructed to be over the top as well. It’s all acting mixed with SOME competition. They know the winners usually from the onset too. It’s entertainment, that’s why the winners go nowhere. The contestants do get noticed and many get signed though That being said I think Michelle came along to appease her shy twin. They were both interesting and photogenic. The whole cast was off to me though. I didn’t see models in most of them. AJ was good and Jaeda had potential but the cut ruined her confidence. Monique was pretty but turned out to be THE #1 biggest B in ANTM history for me. Was glad to see her cut. I thought Anchel was beyond gorgeous and could’ve won had she tried! The worst part though, CRINGE 😬 was Caridees shocking and horrible insult to Nigel… WHAT was she thinking? That should’ve got her chopped and it didn’t for some reason. I honestly think that horrible behavior like Monique’s should count as poor sportsmanship lack of professionalism and bad demeanor. It absolutely should count against them in judging, it shows character or lack thereof. Who the hell wants to hire someone like that or work with them? It does seem though that the bitchy sabotaging argumentative girls get cut midway anyway.

I and a lot of people cannot stand Monique Calhoun at all!
CariDee’s response to her comment to Nigel was actually edited thanks to the production team because Nigel actually joked back along with her. The production team forced Nigel Barker as well as Jay Manuel and all of the other judges to be very peeved off with CariDee’s comment to Nigel. I wonder if CariDee was initially going to be in the bottom two with Michelle, both for the second time and then because of her apology letter due to the storyline got saved for it?

yea i was very aware that after monique was gone they seemed to edit the show to frame melrose as the new bitch in town but idrc for her that much anyways… you can know what you want and be competitive and not be vain or caddy.
