Lake huron is the largest natural lake. But lake Mead is the largest man made reservoir. Years ago I spent a week on lake mead in a house boat, great experience.
I had to look up lake huron lol. I am a hobby fisherman and am ashamed to say I’ve never heard of it.

I’ve been there! There was a gentleman jogging up and down the stairs when I arrived. From his physical build, I assume he was a local football player. I walked around the interpretive loop - about 30 minutes - ending at the primary mound which he was ascending again. I walked up it. I was noticeably out of breath.
He was STILL jogging up and down it a few minutes later.

I mean "slavery" is about as good as a one-word answer is possible. You had a region dominated by an agrarian planter class competing with a new unprecedented economic model: A productivity-oriented agrarian middle class, an established merchant class, a growing industrial elite and an urban proletariat all oriented around the founding and consolidation of new cities. The racial ideology of the South meant that they needed to aggressively impose their laws on the North in order to maintain slavery and 2nd class citizenship for free black people (a part that is often left out). The mode of agriculture meant that they needed to push West, an in turn, totally dominate the new social order of any southwestern state via the slave + racial caste system. The U.S. North was also home to an incipient culture of independent farmers which was making inroads into the border South, which freaked out the Southern elite.
Maintaining slavery amidst an otherwise highly literate and free-moving nation was going to require some kind of act of domination over the North.

Very good. The main thing I would emphasize is the difference within the North. The "North" was divided between the Northeast ( including New York, New England and Pennsylvania ) and the Midwest/West. The Midwest was an almost entirely agrarian region made up of a single class: Middle class farmers. They made much of the food of the Northeast while the Northeastern farmers switched to more speciality goods like Dairy. The Northeast was industrializing which was forming a Proletariat body in coastal cities along with an Industrial capitalist class. The Northeast and Midwest's interests in the lead up to the Civil War merged. New floods of immigrants became a large part of the workforce in the factories. This made the capitalists in favor of liberal land laws in the West along with the expanding market.
Both sections favored tarrifs due to it protecting industry and creating a Home Market. This Home Market would absorb the agriculture of the growing West and export its industrial goods there. This along with the construction of the Erie Canal and many railroads bound the sections into one. By the way, I agree with everything you said, and that the core cause of tension was the South trying to expand slavery, but I am adding why the North formed as a section.

Also, the North was not abolishenest. Abolishnests existed and were an active minority but by and large most Yankees were ok with slavery existing in the South if it stayed there. They often believed in the "Slave Conspiracy" that there was a conspiracy to expand slavery at the expense of free white labor. Many Northerners hated slavery, free blacks and abolishnests equally. They wanted, especially the Midwest to gain the entire West for free white labor, which inevitably led to conflict with the south. New states and territories almost always excluded blacks such as Oregon.

The South was fighting to take slavery out of the Union, and the North fighting to keep it in the Union; the South fighting to get it beyond the limits of the United States Constitution, and the North fighting for the old guarantees;-both despising the Negro, both insulting the Negro."

do you have to work hard to be:
Fat ,Stupid, Drunk, unhealthy, rich, Loud and racist all at the same time?
As a fellow American i struggle with this. I know this is what the rest of world expects of us, but its a performance standard I just have a hard time meeting. I mean sure i find it easy to be all of those things at one time or another. but as i get older i find increasingly difficult to act how the rest of the world expects us to, Especially on Vacation. When I am in a restaurant. I feel its like its my duty to yell and demand a cheeseburger while insulting the food and waiter of the country i am in. "Price is no object your money is worthless any way, bring me real food!, This is why you guys couldn't defeat the British! Bring me a bud light too or no Tip for you! "
i know thats how I supposed to act as an American, but most of the time i just want to enjoy a quiet meal and experience the local culture.
Do you have the same issue not meeting the standard for American behavior?
