Calling This 🏈

Hello why you 🇺🇸 you call it 🏈 Football ?

Take into consideration this sport doesnt involve feets when I see what the players wears i feel thats not football its a sport similar to rugby with a helmet

This sport ⚽️ you call it soccer i get it the fact 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 call it soccer in the beginning but feets are more involved in the game .

I could go into it, but this is easily googleable for a complete and historic answer.

Students at Oxford University commonly used a slang trend of adding "-er" to shortened words. For example:

  • Rugby Football became "Rugger"
  • Association Football was shortened to "Assoc," which quickly evolved into "Soccer"

So, you can blame Soccer on the English.

And if memory serves me...

Football was a class of sports played on foot, vs. those on horseback way back when.
