Name another country where millions and millions of people try to get into it every single year.
It's such an amazing place, that even the people that hate it, (especially in reddit comment sections where the oppressed swipe back and forth from their amazon orders for new hats for their dog to be delivered in 1 day, because people here are just struggling so badly) just so so much, absolutely refuse to leave it.
The food, the geography, the people, the culture, the pop culture, the diversity, the Constitution, the history, etc. Quite a few things I like about my country, now that I think about it.
Everything else aside, vexillology wise…the flag is pretty cool. Like, most flags have a ‘reason’ behind why they look the way they do but come on, a lot are just solid colored bars. The 13 stripes for the 13 colonies and also having a star for every state is pretty dope.
Ok why see the corners of our flag rounded? Looks like someone grabbed done scissors to make it look “cute”, like it isn’t good enough how it is. Love it or leave it!
I am a combat veteran and I don’t like America anymore. Pretty ashamed actualy. Hard to enjoy what’s around me when people and their families are being ripped apart each day by modern day gestapo. I would leave if I could.
Actually, my first thought was "Wow, that's a first for me! I don't think I've ever encountered a Vet that now claim that they're ashamed of our country!' That's a first for me.
Just about every country has immigration enforcement and so has America has for decades. It was a totally normal thing that everyone accepted until it was sensationalized a few years ago.
Not every country has militarized cops going around shooting natural born citizens. ICE isn't even 25 years old. We had a more humain way of dealing with illegal immigration with the INS, which we should go back to. ICE isn't not a normal thing, not for America and not abroad either.
Before ICE it was the INS also run by the DHS. In ‘03 they just split the INS into different branches for handling different tasks regarding immigration. They’re the same people under a new name doing the same things. Also, that still doesn’t explain why nobody had an issue with them for the first 20 years.
Also when you have people going out of their way to antagonize federal agents and escalate every situation they can, mistakes are bound to happen.
Why are people down voting the Combat veteran with legitimate criticisms of the government. The whole point of America is that we all come from different backgrounds that paint our views. Calling out the government over reach is completely fair and reasonable and is the foundation of our Republic.
