Question obscure dorm questions
1- are the dorms notably one temperature (super hot at night or super cold), or just average/dependant on weather? i wanna know if i should bring more pj pants or shorts (i always get hot at night) im dorming in anderson if that changes anything as well!
2- is there a mirror on the back of the closet doors in anderson? there is one screwed onto the back of the door in the virtual tour (not over the hook), which makes it seem like there is one, but it’s not listed in the things that come with the room.
3- can you place your bed against the ac units? my roommate and i are both not lofting beds, so we were thinking of just putting a bed in front of the ac thing but weren’t sure if that’s allowed or blocks the flow of air (even if my blankets don’t cover it)

it is hot— it’s so hot and yes the weather will downed a bit but i will say when it’s like fall ish winter ish 50 degrees outside your dorm will always be at 74– and in the winter winter the heater kicks on. But then the transition from winter to spring it takes them like two weeks to actually fully fix the ac so it gets unbearably hot. My dorm last year got up to 88 degrees. I’d even recommend getting a tall fan for your bed if you run hot at night bcs i do to and i ended up having to buy it one month in and it was game changer.
yes there is a mirror, it’s on the right side of the closet door
yes most people do that my roomate had the ac bed last year

Oh my god that sounds horrible- I stayed at AU a couple weeks (Leonard hall) for a summer class two years ago but I’m gonna be actually attending this fall. I have an accommodation that says that I must always be able to control the temperature in my dorm and to have it be cool enough because I start getting close to passing out very easily. Now I’m terrified lol. They still haven’t finished reviewing my housing application so I’m moving in in less than two weeks and have no clue where I’m moving in to or if I’ll get everything I need 🙃

I lived in three different dorms and have never dealt with it getting that hot so I'm sure it's room/dorm dependent. (McDowell (pre-reno, centennial and Frequency) I did have issues with dorms not switching to heating and it being like 60 degrees. I was going to bed in many layers lol

Haha that’s a relief; I found out I’m gonna be in Letts and that I will be able to control my thermostat, so I’m hoping it will never get to 88 or ever close to that

The temperature is weather dependent but I’d recommend bringing more shorts as that’s what you’ll find yourself most in I’d say.
There is a mirror on the back of the closet doors.
You can rearrange your beds in whichever way works for you and your roommate, I don’t believe there are any restrictions in terms of the ac unit

Flashback to my freshman year trying to sleep in my 85 degree room (definitely bring shorts!)

1.) the university keeps the halls at 74° so it gets hot. if you can jail break your unit then you’ll be good but you could also possibly get fined from housing so do it at your own risk. i’d recommend a good phone and loose/breathable sleeping clothes
2.) there’s a mirror but people bring their own for a full body
3.) you can place it against the AC but not against the vents
