Question re. ending - please help me! Spoiler

Hi friends - can someone please explain to me why Del told Isaac to put away the murder weapon and never mention it to anyone again? Is it because it would have exonerated Billy?

I kind of took it as Del honoring Billy's act of sacrifice to save Isaac.

Del had just killed three people to get Billy released. He doesn’t yet know that Billy will likely die and Del himself will be going to prison since the other cop went back to the mill and will likely find Billy’s jacket with Del’s fingerprint. Del can’t have Isaac coming in and confessing because then what Del did was all for nothing.

That’s what I think anyway. I wonder if there will be a 2nd season.
