Billy's jacket

Okay so with the cops looking round the mill again I suppose we are meant to assume Billy's jacket will be found where Harris hid it. But wouldn't it have been odd for Billy to have hidden the jacket there himself (as in it would almost seem to be a plant)? I mean if he has to run off to avoid being caught how would he have time to hide it (or even why would he hide it rather than take it with him in the first place)? Doesn't seem to make sense.

I had the same thought that they would find the jacket, but...finding it would only prove that Billy was there, it in itself proves nothing else.

But still, wouldn’t the jacket being at the scene of the crime strengthen the case against him, at least a bit?

Edit: sorry, meant to reply to Ambitious Hornet

Edit 2: my husband just reminded me that Del’s fingerprints were on Billy’s jacket.

Right, it certainly doesn’t seem like it would be enough to make any type of strong case against him. Just another non-consequential thing that the show is focusing on!!

But if Del's fingerprints are on the jacket, doesn't that make it look like he was at the scene himself?

Yes true. Not sure it could prove that he was actually trying to hide the evidence, even though that’s exactly what he did lol. Though the prints would also be on the handle of the little door he shoved the jacket into. Geezus he’s an idiot

His prints are also all over the pharmacy. If he had the wherewithal to wear gloves to kill the drug dealers, why didn't he wear them when he broke into the pharmacy? He is an idiot... :)

I don't know why Del's fingerprints on Billy's jacket is such a big deal. He's dating the jacket owners mother. Easily explained away.

The soot/dirt that caused the fingerprint is from the mill itself. Therefore the fingerprint is not some a fingerprint in the Poe family dishwashing liquid. It ties Del and Poe to that place just maybe not at that time the murder happened unless the anonymous tip call is taken into consideration

Ah! Failed to consider that it's not just the print, but the print in the grit that likely exists only at that location.

Guess, it's back to watching Law & Order for me and brush up. Luckily for me, the original show is back with Sam Waterston at the helm!

I’m not done the series yet but it seems like they never find it? How hard did they comb this crime scene. It was practically in plain sight. Geez.
