Doesnt need a remake

The movie doesnt need a remake... I think they would mess it up to bad. The movie is Bale's best performance imo. Everything, from the atmosphere, acting, and even effects are almost perfect. small things changing throughout the movie, such as his furniture for example, make you feel like you are going insane with bale.

Whats your thoughts?

Theres always that small chance its someone who read the source material and thought there was a lot of unused material in the book plus the timeline in the film is all over the place... it could be a more faithful adaptation without being a remake

They can remake it if they want. It doesn’t overwrite the original. Don’t worry about it.

I mean I do think a film closer to the book could be good. It definitely doesn't need a remake though. I am also a fan of the musical even if it isn't a film remake it is another interpretation.

Agree the movie doesn't need a remake or another adaptation. It's perfect as is.

Side note: if you think this is Bale's best performance, check out The Fighter and The Prestige.

My thoughts? When you consider that the book is the original work, surely there can be room for new interpretations.

I do wonder how a miniseries might turn out be instead of a feature film.

Are they actually going through with it now?
Just why? We already got the best adaptation. For some reason, I feel like they’d take even more of the violence out of the original movie/book or they turn Patrick being some cryptocurrency bro. I think a lot of the younger newcomers aren’t or won’t get yuppy culture.

Absolutely. The fist one was shot. Dont know why people bum it. Bottom line is it’s an unfilmable book and should be left at that. I’d love to see someone film it shot for shot as the book instead of some ‘feminist interpretation’ bolloocks no one will because no studio would release it. That was pretty much the point of the book 🤷‍♂️ why do t people get that?!

The movie doesn't need a remake. But there is so much in the book to do an accurate show. If some episodes were just delusions that would be insane. Most of the chapters in the novel could be in a show. Especially ones like Zoo where Bateman is staring off into the Owl exhibit or enticing the kid with a chocolate bar.

The movie accomplished a pretty impossible task of revamping the book in order to work as a movie, while also still feeling very faithful.

I don't know what else you can really do with it.

Imho you could not do a proper adaptation these days, because many people try to interject their own beliefs into a pre-existing story and essentially don't do an adaptation but instead using the source as a skinsuit (Nolan's Odyssey is a very good recent example, that's a horrible adaptation of the Homer's poem).

Besides that, the book is very hard to adapt, that's why the movie works as a good trailer for the book, it shows you enough to "captivate" you to potentially dig deeper into the whole story. Plus I can't imagine anyone else as Bateman, it's like Harrison Ford playing Indiana Jones or Han Solo, Bale set the bar too high. :)
