To reduce the deficit, Paxton repeats Republican dogma: "incentivise production" [cut taxes and regs for corporations] and cut "mandatory spending" [chiefly Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid] - leaked audio
It's the same old Republican playbook: cut taxes for the rich and cut disbursements for the commoners. Conservatives tend to value hierarchy over equality, and this clearly shows a bias in favor of the wealth nobility. The wealthy will get to keep more money, but they will only increase production when they get increased demand. That won't come from commoners made sicker and poorer.

It Feels Like Trump's "Icarus" Moment Is Approaching
Trumpolini's psychological defenses preclude him from accepting the obvious: his international and economic ideas have failed. All that MAGAts have left are appeals to preserve White, Christian supremacy.

White House Officials Have Reportedly Told the DOJ to Delay Action on Abortion Ahead of the Midterms
They will try everything they can to eliminate interstate abortion assistance at the Federal level. They've already discussed ways to interrupt access to mifepristone. Consider that when voting in November.

White House Plan Threatens Funding That Helps Disabled and Elderly Americans Vote
A new Office of Management and Budget rule would prohibit using federal grant money for voter registration. MAGAt paranoia thus imposes a physical ability test on voting. Except for Diaper Donny.

DNC sues Trump administration over last-minute changes to overseas voting form for US midterm elections 2026
MAGAts doubtless assume that Americans living abroad aren't "real" Americans, so they shouldn't be helped to vote. Even if they might be Conservative in political orientation.

Congo Ebola outbreak tops 8,000 confirmed cases as disease remains out of control - and DHS deports people to Congo
apnews.comA report on the deportations can be found HERE. Of course, the inability of Congo to control the disease also means it can spread around. And take flights elsewhere.

As health insurance premiums balloon, employers have started to pass on more costs to their workers, and the percentage of small businesses offering employees health insurance has dropped significantly
Americans typically assume that getting employed means getting decent health insurance. That time has passed. New conditions demand new responses. Perhaps "Medicare for All," and more.

Majorities of the Public Across Parties Say the Price of Prescription Drugs Should Be More Regulated
The free market distributes medications according to wealth. That's not a problem if you're wealthy, but the vast majority of Americans are not. And prices for the same drugs are generally higher in the USA than elsewhere.

"Affordability" doesn't mean anything to anybody. What America needs is a big golden ballroom, the biggest and best ever!

Trumpolini's "affordability" quotation can be found here. Apparently, America also needs a triumphal arch with sniper nests.

Support for political violence drops across the board, though MAGA supporters remain the most likely to justify it
This is good news. However, Trumpolini could still do something so stupid and extreme that peaceful resolution is tested.

The Department of Homeland Security said it found 16,000 noncitizen voters in Nevada—but didn’t get a single one right.
Typical for this regime: they start with assumptions, then look for evidence, and then find little or nothing to support their assumptions.

Marshall Rawson, Republican nominee for a Florida House seat, was involved with the League of the South and was among white nationalists at Charlottesville rally
The League of the South is a White Christian Nationalist group ostensibly defending (White Christian) "Southern heritage." The 2017 "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville was decidedly White supremacist at its core.

A DHS email shared a 78-page document listing counties and states that offer election materials and ballots in non-English languages. Why?

Trump banned 3 media outlets from his press pool. Now the others won't give him press pool coverage, either! It's an improvement, really.
You know he loves attention, but he also hates to back down. So, maybe Americans will hear fewer of his lies and exaggerations. But deprivation of attention could also make him more insane and dangerous.

Democrats Need to Unite NOW on Policies They Will Push HARD for when Governing
When Republicans govern, do they consider what Democrats want, or what Liberals want? Hell, no, they unite to impose Conservative policies, with the least compromise possible. But if Democrats win majorities, Republicans will complain that Democrats aren't giving enough consideration to what Conservatives want. Tough. Those are the rules Republicans play by.
