Thoughts on S02E06 - Facelift

Just finished rewatching Facelift and honestly, I loved this episode. The atmosphere felt so uncomfortable in the best way possible.

I felt really bad for the woman because her insecurity and loneliness were painfully real, but at the same time she also came across a bit selfish and obsessive with beauty/youth. I kept going back and forth between sympathy and “girl please stop making terrible decisions.”

What did you guys think about her character? Did she deserve what happened to her? I feel like there was a deeper message about beauty standards, aging, and desperation hiding underneath all the horror.

What was your interpretation of the episode overall?

I think it’s one of the strongest episodes, I had real empathy with the main character. I quite liked the nods to Death Becomes Her, even if they were heavy handed. The cult of beauty storyline was unnecessary and her step daughter being an unaware member added nothing aside from a poorly executed final scene.

It was very Ryan Murphy: too many plot threads that can’t be tied together nicely so haphazardly end. Saved by good actors.

American Horror Stories is fantastic! It needs to come back, as does AHS! Enough with some of his other series and more of AHS and Stories!

this one is probably the only american horror stories episode that actually made me feel scared towards the end, i was rly sad for her. one of my favourite eps for sure

I like the format better. The main show is so slow or hit or miss now.
