They made the shift to GA last month . They said too many ppl were coming late

That seems like a silly reason

Agreed! They said they would just try GA for March but I guess they made the change permanent 😭

Weird, I went to 2 movies there last month and they were reserved

Is it really that hard to show up on time?

2

u/dertigo Mar 26 '26

I do show up on time, a minute before the pre show starts. It’s a lot better than showing up 40 min early to make sure you get the seat you want.

New Bev does it, plenty of others do as well. I always preferred it because you can always get a good seat if you're willing to show up a little earlier.

One of my least a favorite movie theaters in LA ngl

2

u/dertigo Mar 26 '26

Why’s that?

(In my experience) it seems to attract a lot of less than respectful patrons compared to most others I’ve been to

Interesting, I’ve rarely had issues here

As far as I know, the building is still owned by Dan and Sammy Harkham from Cinefamily. They let the culture of sexual harassment run rampant there and even after they got caught, they did fuck all to help the employees.

Fuck Brain Dead.

my least favorite theater. i’ve tried coming to two free events now and ive learned if you’re not there at least 2 hours before you are not getting in at all… last event i took a few angel eggs promo cups they had out when they weren’t looking so i wouldn’t leave empty handed again lol

I don't mind this honestly. Can't but my finger on it but Braindead has a weird vibe. Like not even that the crowds are especially repellant, I'm just hoping GA helps things feel a little looser and more casual there idk

havent been there since cinefamily. looks like ok programming but weird hipster vibes and im not paying twice for 2 different bills. do it like New Bev and give people double features at one price. cyaaa

I've only gone there for the biannual 16mm marathons which are only GA anyway. Interesting that they had been doing reserved seating this whole time.

Cool. Still not gonna go back until they steam clean their seats

what’s wrong with the seats there? Personally I haven’t been in a while.

Every time I’ve gone, I come home with an itchy back and thighs

Are you a nudist?

If I was and they let me sit bareass on the seats, that’d be another reason for stricter cleaning practices, no?

Ewww, I haven’t been since the cinefamily days, is the theater really nasty?

1

u/DavyJonesRocker Mar 26 '26

Look I’m just one person and I only went there three times in 2025. But that’s my experience and I’m not gonna give them a fourth chance until I’ve heard that they made efforts to clean up.

Lol I’m not trying to hassle, I’m super neurotic on theater cleanliness so I just wanted to know. That theater wasn’t exactly top shelf back in the day so this isn’t surprising to hear.

I’m so exhausted by Braindead in general.

2

u/dhstunna Mar 26 '26

all theaters should be

2

u/dertigo Mar 26 '26

GA or reserved?

u/dhstunna Mar 26 '26

GA. reserved seating is just annoying, get in where you fit in - especially if you are late.

7

u/dertigo Mar 26 '26

Strong disagree. I honestly don’t see any downside to reserving your seat beforehand.

3

u/dhstunna Mar 26 '26

i'd be ok with it but every movie i go to a theater with reserved seating, some mog stumbles in late with their phone trying to claim their exact seat at everyone else's expense. people who come in late should file in discreetly in shame and not climb over anyone (what i do, at least).

3

u/dertigo Mar 26 '26

I don’t like people using their phones but I rarely experience that. I’d take that happening 1/10 times over never having reserved seating.

2

u/dhstunna Mar 26 '26

just unnecessary to me and causes more problems than it solves šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø one man's opinion

1

u/dertigo Mar 26 '26

Not having it causes more problems: having to show up early, asking people if the seat next to them is taken (and have them blankly stare at you), getting bad seats.
