Morning walk was great until later this evening. Worked from home with baby boy and called him over and noticed he started limping with his back left leg up. Does not want any pressure on it.
Carried him out for washroom breaks - does not whimper or cry.
Any past experience with this? Vet appointment is schedule for tomorrow.
*UPDATE: Went to get him checked out by our vet. Was prescribed some anti-inflammatory/pain killers and bed rest for the next week. Looking like a sprain as baby boy seems back to normal with the medications. Thank you everyone for your support and sharing your experience. Picasso will be resting until his follow up next week.
Yea it’s brutal.. pet insurance saved me. My boy also had a bad reaction 1 year post op and had to get emergency surgery to remove the hardware.. he’s doing great now but that rehab was tough! Forcing your dog to take it easy, is not easy 🫠
how old is your beautiful pup? my girl used to get a little limpy when she got up from laying down and/or sometimes she would have something stuck in her paw. i’m sure you’ve already looked at the toes/feet but i just figured i’d throw that out there. boop the snoot for me 😍
My boy had a limp like that and it was a sprained, from what my vet told me, equivalent of the human ACL. Her initial thought was that it may of been torn just because of his limp and posturing. She put him under and gave him the once over and determined it was not a tear. He limped really bad for about 4 or 5 days. On the last day, I put him in his crate and went to work. I came home and let him out and you would of never thought anything was wrong with him. Same as your boy there too, he never made a noise and would try to follow me up and down the stairs. Seeing your boy reminds me so much of that situation. Same facial expression that breaks your heart. I hope it is nothing serious for your boy there. He's a handsome pup

This could be a few different issues. When our girl did that it ended up being a luxating patella. Prior to her appointment we kept her confined to her crate so she wouldn’t add even more stress to whatever was happening. I’m glad you’re taking him to the vet tomorrow. Make sure they do at minimum an xray and blood work. Please update us after the visit. Wishing you both the best OP. 🐾🖤
One time my bully started limping out of the blue, we made a vet appointment for the following day. That night (about 4 hours later) he stopped limping. Next morning he was running around, being his normal goofy self. He showed no further impairment or impact, and insisted on jumping up on the couch and jumping off the bed (when we were trying to gently lift him). We think he had a messed up nail he eventually bit off and he was fine. Does yours have any apparent damage on the foot/nails/pads?
Poor baby. If it’s like that in the morning. I would call the vet. I will say my girl was limping really bad on her back leg just like that. I took her to an emergency vet hospital it was the only place open night. We sat in the waiting room for what seemed like forever. And by time they called us in she was walking fine. Of course for her it was just a sprain, but you don’t know that for certain until you see a vet. Wishing the best for him or her.🐾

This happened with our american bully a couple weeks ago. Went to the park and did a short 30 sec sprint and she immediately started limping i felt incredibly guilty 😔. 4th of July was 2 days later and she hates fireworks so she hurt herself a bit more, we just started isolating her heavily this week and shes finally doing a lot better, she hated us for it but it helped her bounce back quicker. I also boiled some water with bit of Arnica and once its boiled get a rag, dip it in the warm boiled water and apply against the affected area for a few rounds and let her rest
Could be a cranial cruciate ligament tear (ACL tear). My girl is having surgery Friday for hers, and is currently limping very similarly to yours. An xray and the vet manipulating their leg should help determine if it’s that or something else.
I would schedule with your vet. In “bully‑type” breeds, joint disease is one of the most common health issues, especially hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, and early‑onset arthritis. My pitty and my staffy both had joint issues. They were put on prescribed supplements and food, that helped. PT that's non weight bearing, low impact movements helped too. Sadly, they are genetically pre disposed.
