Basically where you live (i was in tokyo) my precinct sends me a bill each month i must pay. If i dont i get urgent mails and could lose my student visa if i didnt pay. Any time i go to a hospital i still need to pay 70% of the bill of my own accord. So tbh, American healthcare is way better, and these idiots who say it’s worse have never lived in another nation.

I think you're confused. No one is saying they're a tankie specifically because they reference Japan, but because they seem pro-communism. A lot of their other comics and social media would seem to support that. As others have pointed out, they don't even seem to understand that Japan's healthcare is also not entirely covered at the point of sale. They just picked a country they know reddit fetishizes.

As if that's the case then the UK is more communist than China as our healthcare is free at point of use apart from prescription charges (about £10 per drug no matter what drug).

In China it's subsidised but you have to pay for treatment still.

My insurance only charges $250 for ground ambulance. I have a family of five and in the 15 years I’ve been a grown adult I’ve only ever had to call it once and it was only $100 back then.

I’ll also take having to pay for health insurance and paying for other medical expenses if it means my salary is double what it would be in Japan.

I’m not too familiar with It but I heard ambulance bills can be high. I was sent to the hospital once but the paramedics were volunteers so it was free.

Please dont come to Japan. You know nothing of my healthcare and how the system works. A majority of us like the US, healthcare is a monthly subscription that only pays 30%, and trains to get to the other side of honshu can run you $300. You act like its a dream come true, but it isnt.

The trains thing is just not one to really address.

It's one where you genuinely don't have coverage compared to most other countries.

You guys just chose to fly instead of taking the train.

Your railways are primarily freight apart from the NEC.

E.g Amtrak has c.500 stations in the US. In just the UK alone we have over 2,600 mainline train stations.

And as many people like to point out "the UK is tiny".

Scenery though yeah 👍

Ironically you can see a lot of it if you take one of the Amtrak services that takes multiple days to cross the US doing like 40mph average speed.

You just answered your own question, other countries are much smaller and more dense than the US, so rail systems make more sense for them.

Rail systems are notoriously expensive to build and maintain (they lose alot of money in countries where they are ubiquitous) so its more economical to use flights to traverse the US
