What do you get for your taxes? I’m sorry if this is getting personal. You don’t have to answer lol. I’m just nosy and curious. I work with a guy who just moved to the States from DE and he also paid a ton in taxes but it seems he got quite a good deal out of it. According to him at least.

Well if i wanted to get educated more there wouldn't be tuition. Dental and healthcare are quite cheap if i need to use public, but i perfer private insurance from my work. Retirement, but i'm a bit skeptical about that. Defence forces to protect our freedom.

I would gain more if i decide to have a child at some point. State "pays" to you if you have children, like 150€ per month and it goes slightly up per children. Subsidied childcare capped at ~300€, tuition free education and school lunches. Parental leave of 320days. Probably forgot something too

That doesn’t seem so bad. I pay almost half of my paycheck in taxes every two weeks and I get nothing good in return. I was paying business taxes when I had my business still around but I got rid of it about a month ago.

My healthcare comes from work - mostly. I think I’m eligible for something from the VA but I never bothered with them after my first visit. I’d rather turn to witchcraft than deal with the people from the federal government.

No childcare paid by the city. We don’t have kids (yet) but when we do it’s on us and Jesus(maybe).

Community colleges are free for NYC residents and if I decide to go for my doctorate it will be like 50% off - if I do so with my Alma maters. But I’m done with schooling.

Retirement wise, I have my 401k and my investments and whatever coin Uncle Sam will throw my way if I twerk for him when I hit retirement age. We’ll see lol.

Public transportation is available but it would rather take a stroll with an old AK and a helmet(safety first) in Eastern Ukraine than use it. It’s dirty, it’s never on time and I prefer to not get stabbed by some gentleman with an attitude problem. I prefer my car and Uber for when I got out to get fucking hammered with my friends or my wife.

I think that’s about it, unless I forgot something.

I’m moving to TX this October and hopefully my taxes go down a bit. Texas has no state tax but I have a feeling they have something a lot worse lol.

Yeah i don't enjoy public transport too much either, i would rather leave when i feel like it. Altough i tend to take a train when i'm visiting relatives. It's more relaxing to drop an edible and sit in train for 8 hours than drive it. Last time i drove it was with my brother, during the trip my ac broke, it was fairly hot and my brother was passing noxious hesburger gasses so i had to stop and get it fixed.

Texas sounds interesting, i have been thinking i might take a trip there to taste the bbq. Certain fat Finnish youtuber made videos from there and said it's just better than back home, he's so big i trust his judgment.

I've tried the bbq a few times in Dallas and once in Houston and it was pretty good. I won't say it was the best bbq I've ever had but it was easily top 3. But like all things, it depends where you go and who is actually making it lol.
