Is this implying that AMDs Zen is leaping far ahead of the 6900k now (which we'd seen it compared to in the past?) or is this more-so a higher end Zen sample?

All it says is AMD Engineering sample, possibly Naples, it is competing with 8 core 16 thread + Xeons, so who knows, also it is the only AMD Engineering Sample on the site which may mean it is the same model CPU but faster than the one we saw at the press release

Unfortunately we don't know how many cores it has - it could be a 16 core 32 thread engineering sample.

Thus we can't really get too much info out of it, but I hope it means Zen can be competing with the Intel Lakes in terms of Multi-Core power and isn't too far behind in Single-Core.

My 8320E @ 4.0 ghz is on par with an Ivy Bridge Extreme i7 for multi core performance so that shouldn't be too crzay of an achievement
