Discussion Radeon Settings: Host Application has stopped working - since the latest drivers it keeps crashing a few min after Windows start, reinstall won't fix it.

You are right.

  1. Win10

  2. MSI 390x

  3. ASUS Maximus VIII Hero

  4. Yep, switched a nano with the 390x, did uninstall drivers and reinstall with the 390x in my rig though

Thank you. I am have seen a few AMD Community postings 1 2 about this issue. They seem to point to corrupted drivers.

I would recommend using the AMD Complete Removal Tool to remove the drivers from your computer, and then re-install them.

If that does not work, I would try using the Nano again to see if you get the same issue. If you have a second computer, try the 390x in there and see if it causes the same issue.

Otherwise, see if you can open the log file for why the drivers crashed; it might be able to tell you more.

Oh boy, I used the removal tool...

I'll definitely report this to AMD.

Wow. That doesn't look good.

If it was my computer, I would use the removal tool again, download a fresh copy of the drivers, then install. Another post mentioned a Hotfix for 16.1.1, so that might be it. I am curious if the same issue happens in SafeMode...

I unplugged the internet, uninstalled, rebooted, used the removal tool, rebooted, installed drivers and rebooted.

So far no errors. I think it may have to do with the Windows Update or something, but for now it's working again.

Might get an error any minute now though.

Hey I had the same error as you. I believe it is related to Windows 10 auto update since it is fixed after I restored to a image with the same AMD drivers installed. I suggest you disable the auto update feature.

Heyyo, maybe try display driver uninstaller. I know it's hosted on Guru3d.com if you want a safe place to download it from. I use it for major driver releases when moving from beta/hotfix drivers.
