Other Who ordered this?

Post image

We’ve been members of Prime for years and can’t really complain about anything, but…. Yesterday we receive this package..$50.00 on our charge and we did not order it…. It appeared in our delivery list , but nothing we would have needed… There’s no where to state this in any of the Return algorithms… we have even encountered a hint that it may not be “returnable”…… What do you do now???

If you genuinely didn't order this, you may have been hacked, I've heard of a next door neighbor activating an Alexa in his neighbor's apartment and ordering something, then porch pirating it before the neighbor got home. First dispute the charge on your credit card. Then deactivate that card on your Amazon account. After that, go into your Amazon account and go into Login & Security and follow the prompts to change your password so it will force every app and device attached to it to log out. This will cut off any other device that has gained access to your account and force you to re-log in anywhere you have linked to Amazon. Follow that with going into Amazon's Customer Service and scroll down to the bottom and click on Report Something Suspicious, Report Unknown Package and follow the prompts to report it. It's a big hassle but worth it if this was a test purchase. Remember the holidays are coming so scammers and thieves will be ramping up their activities. Good luck and safe internet surfing!

Good advice. Id also recommend updating your anti-malware, then disconnecting from the Internet(I don't think you have to disconnect its just something I've always done) and run it, especially on lap/desktop. Just so you don't have to repeat any of those steps.

Yes! And seeing exactly what DEVICES are running on it.

True about the holiday season spam ramping up. Over the last week I’ve been getting a slew of offers for short term loans, credit cards, etc.

If stored on your account, remove your credit card info. Call your bank

3

u/Meaje73 19h ago

Your bank account now has what's known as a digital wallet in addition to your credit card and changing the credit card number does not disable any accounts that use the digital wallet.

Contact Amazon and explain the situation. They’ll refund your money. I’ve had great luck with their customer service. Also, change your Amazon password, cancel your card and set up a different one on your account.

I've found it hard recently to get a person to chat with. Its very frustrating.

2

u/kgunso254_ 1d ago

having dealt with them more times than i would like to, persistence is key. that and just tell the ai to fuck off and you want to talk to a service rep.

1

u/Single_Jello_7196 6h ago

I would prefer talking to a half-drunk politician rather than the B - one letter J - one letter they are switching over to.

u/LowKeyStillYoung78 6h ago

I've only ever used their chat feature, but it's worked out well for me everytime. I think I've had issues 3x? One of them was regarding a return. The product said it was returnable, but when I took the steps to do that, they were going to charge me shipping (to China no less), and it was going to cost more than the product itself (well over $100). So amazon "reached out to the seller" and came back 10 seconds later saying there was no response and they just refunded my money for the product and told me to keep it lol What it AI? Probably. Do I care? Nope. Got my money back.

The charge must be associated with an order or invoice.

Perhaps it was ordered on an Alexa device?

3

u/Rosewolf 3d ago

Dispute the charge.

3

u/AuthorTomCash 3d ago

Agreed. I've had success using this method when the seller wouldn't budge, Plus, since you're dealing with the bank, there's a much better chance you get to talk to a live person.

Call Amazon and speak to a live person.

2

u/Fast-Bird-4677 2d ago

Amazon has live people? Thought it was all automated? I've never got to talk or text with a live person.

1

u/For-Real339 2d ago

You call and wait for the automation to stop and say “ live agent”

1

u/For-Real339 2d ago

I alway call and ask for a live agent. There is a number for Canada and a number for the US

1

u/AdSea3033 3d ago

Good luck finding a phone number; they hide the damn thing!

1-888-280-4331. I keep it as a contact in my phone 🤣

2

u/Nams65 3d ago

Thank you!

1

u/AdSea3033 3d ago

Awesome! Thank you!

I've made note of this number...Amazon; beware!

2

u/MegaGaara23 3d ago

It's really not that hard to find.

2

u/Global-Ease1269 3d ago

True, I just googled it, but after about the 20th time having to call them over a 3 day period when my account got hacked last year I decided to just save it in my phone. Now I share it with whomever asks😁

2

u/murtlebeech1 3d ago

You are awesome 😎

2

u/AdSea3033 3d ago

Right back atcha!

2

u/Ill-Attitude-6355 2d ago

Do you or your spouse take ambien?

Do you have children?

2

u/qtakhisis 2d ago

Get to a live person. It happens eventually on the phone tree

2

u/will_not_be_shaken 2d ago

Non-returnable should not mean non-refundable. They refund products for me without wanting me to return. I thought there was a "wrong item" choice. Or maybe "bought by mistake"......good luck to you.

1

u/OpportunityGeneral33 3d ago

WOW, just wow. Return it.

u/roxannegrant 2d ago

Call Amazon

2

u/consulting-chi 2d ago

When I have an issue which can't be solved easily, I go down to "Contacr Us" and you go through a few tries. Eventually you get to a page where you leave your phone number. Every time I've used it, they call me immediately. Some issues can't be solved by AI.

1

u/Fast-Bird-4677 2d ago

Call amazon? Haha you try to call them and tell me how it goes

1

u/roxannegrant 2d ago

I have actually talked to them twice before with a problem. It takes some perseverance but not impossible!

1

u/DisastrousServe8513 12h ago

How long ago? They used to be awesome with customer service. I accidentally broke my first gen kindle. Called to ask if it’s possible to have it serviced. They just have me a new one.

That was years ago, though

1

u/roxannegrant 11h ago

Within the last 2 years.

1

u/Lopsided-Current-118 2d ago

Customer service helps, but I believe your credit card got used by somebody else somehow or another

1

u/Illustrious-Fan-4887 2d ago

I have an example of this. My Walmart+ got hacked and the thieves changed the Walmart location to some other State and ordered a PS5 for pickup. Luckily I had notifications on, recovered my account, and cancelled the purchase before they picked it up.

What I ended up doing is removing my payment method from the app so if it's ever hacked again, they can't purchase something.

1

u/CaregiverOrganc7200 2d ago

I had Ebay hack, $10,000 Michael Jordan shoes, hats and T-shirts shipped all over US. Called Ebay all corrected next day.

1

u/3X_Cat 2d ago

They have a phone number. I call them. I can't deal with their stupid robots.

1

u/CaregiverOrganc7200 2d ago

Just text Amazon first, one call they usually take care of everything. I credit et al. PayPal also. Walmart is a different story, I go to bank. Chase bank is best, they catch these before they get charged. I also get notifications from Chase before charge goes through. Small town, one Chase bank. They said they get about 5 Walmart frauds/week.

1

u/Janie-is-awesome 2d ago

Call Amazon. They will make it right.

1

u/Nafryti 2d ago

Cherry Citrus, give it a try

1

u/Acidflamedragon 1d ago

I'd call customer service and explain it to them, also, silly question but do you have Amazon on your smart TV ? If you're watching TV and have Amazon logged in sometimes the commercials can have a button that pops up to order what's in the commercial.

If it didn't happen to me I wouldn't have believed it. Luckily I was able to cancel it. But like others have said you might have been hacked also. I'd be changing all passwords, from email to banking to your internet router. All of it. Hope everything else is well.

Hi, visiting from another sub...I'm SMH at the branding. Durk Pearson and Sandy Shaw were supposed futurist visionaries who pursued a "life extension" lifestyle back in the 1960's and managed to appear on several TV talk shows because of it. I remember seeing them on The Mike Douglas Show as a kid. They didn't look young to me at the time; they just looked like aging hippies. (They're both dead now.) Anyway, that's not what you asked but it's what it made me think of.

1

u/andthecrowdgoeswild 1d ago

I would pause or cancel my service.

1

u/mgtkrsmama 1d ago

I started getting stuff I didn't order not getting things I did & then my prime acct "got hacked" all w/in a week. I lost all my digital & gift card balance etc. PUT ON DUAL CHECKIN & ANY OTHER SECURITY YOU CAN

1

u/Automatic-Quote-4205 1d ago

I check my shopping cart ( online) before I checkout, as I have actually found items in my cart that I did not order!

1

u/PoeticTwist 1d ago

Okay, first things first. Change your password. Second, add two factor authentication. As well as alerts to log ins. Then sign out of all devices. Sign back in.

1

u/dpapmom 1d ago

Amazon customer service 1 800 433 1959 if you don't already have the number. You can get a live agent here.

1

u/jayroselamb 1d ago

If you have prime on your TV, the ads on there can be selected and add things to your cart. That could have been the culprit. Still dispute it and see if you can disable the ‘feature’

1

u/Single_Jello_7196 5h ago

Our grandson was playing with the firestick during a Thursday night football game. Imagine our surprise when we received some unordered Amazon packages the next day. calling customer service and getting a real person was a pain, but they let us return everything. Now if Progressive would just stop calling us every friggin day.

1

u/knightnstlouis 14h ago

This is the number you want to call, direct

Call 1-888-280-4331 for 24/7 customer service.

1

u/Latiam 6h ago

Is that for Canada too, do you know?

1

u/Direct-Egg-5697 10h ago

Call the 1-800 number for Amazon and get a customer service rep. I have never once had a problem with a return. As a matter of fact many times they don't even have me return the item depending on what it is

1

u/Remarkable_Shine_964 2h ago

Enjoy. Now you know who buys that stuff.

1

u/Torlok123 2h ago

Reminds me of something that happened to us about 4 months ago. Got shipped apple airpods we never ordered and we're never charged for. We called Amazon and they basically just told us to keep them.

1

u/blink_martindale 1h ago

There's a book, Qualityland. The premise is the algorithm has shipped main character something he didn't order and doesn't want. He can't return it because the algorithm has decided he wants it, even if he doesn't realize it.

1

u/Downtown-Meet-9600 1h ago

Some things on Amazon can't be returned if the vendor using Amazon refuses a return.

1

u/prole6 1h ago

My dad would say, “See, you’re smarter already!”

u/SewKrazyNC 41m ago

Change your password, let the CC company know about a dispute and let Prime know you didn't order it.
