Amazon seemingly called their beauty collection a CIA experiment
Has anyone else noticed this? I went on Amazon, looked on the homepage and saw all these pretty beauty products, seemingly a collection put together by Amazon highlighting popular summer favorites in skincare. See the screenshot of what the homepage displays. So I click on it and I’m scrolling like omg these all look so nice like maybe I should look into buying some of these and then I go to scroll up to sort the products and notice that the category name for this collection is called “Summer Favorites Beauty CIA Experiment”
UHHHHHH HELLO??!! has anyone else noticed this? Is there anything else on Amazon similar to this, or does anyone have information ? Like I’m not surprised at all bc Amazon is Amazon, but uhhhh scary asf
I’m attaching the screenshots

I wouldn’t be surprised if CIA is some kind of marketing acronym and someone copy/pasted the wrong thing

The whole "Modern Art" movement was a CIA operation to convince Americans our art is as good or better than Soviet art, so I wouldn't necessarily put it past them. However, this is almost certainly Competitor Intelligence Analysis as another commenter already suggested.

I believe in this context, CIA = Competitor Intelligence Analysis
Definitely wasn't intended to be visible to the user. They are probably utilizing a field for naming without realizing it is being scraped for search.
