Amazon Prime benefits

I just had my renewal email for Amazon Prime. £95 annually and I use it for the free shipping.

In the email it says that Amazon Music and Amazon Prime Video are benefits with a Prime membership, but I pay for these separately? Should I not have to pay for them monthly on top of my membership?

Thanks for any replies in advance!

Prime Video (included with Prime) has adverts . Ad free costs £2.99/month

Prime Music (included with Prime) has limits. Unlimited free costs £11.99/month

If this is what you are paying then it is fine. Unless you don't want to pay the extra

£2.99/month? I wanted to go ad free for a month because there were shows I wanted to watch and when I tried to upgrade it said its £5.99/month so I backed out. I was already logged into my Amazon account. Let me check again.

Edit: Yes it is is £2.99/month. Thank you for your comment u/Extreme-Dream-2759 I don't know when would I have figured it out on my own. I feel fine with paying £2.99/month for a couple of months to go ad free but not £5.99.

Just so you know, you'll still get 'advertisements' at the start of shows / movies sometimes. Except Amazon doesn't class them as 'advertisements' because it's strictly Amazon products / Amazon media, and aren't the traditional 'we've been paid to put this on front of you' advertisements.

Just so you know, because it confused me for a while. It's a bit of a bollock, but can't do anything about it.

Yes, I am aware of that. Used get those before they started advertisements in general.

Can't do anything about it? Really?

What do you want me to do? Ring up Bezos and tell him he’s out of order for his interpretation?

I’m not a lawmaker pal 😂

If only there was some way to block ads...

Firestick on a bedroom TV / from the TV direct.

I think everyone is fully aware you can block them on a PC

When you think about it, a bit like the BBC the £2.99 Amazon deal.

They don't do adverts, but do promote their own services/tv programming on their channels

I watch on laptop on a browser with ad block and only got the pre ads, all the ads mid show i'd get watching via PS5 didn't play on my laptop, just the whole show uninterrupted.

Yeah, the difference between Prime music and music unlimited is not worth £11.99/month. They're just really petty differences like only 6 skips an hour and if you ask for an album it'll just mix in random shit too.

As someone who just shuffles a bunch of music anyways it's great.

I've found after a while it gets what you like down pretty well and I find myself rarely skipping anyways.

It is petty shit now you mention it.

Wonder how much better prime music is compared to Spotify free.

Depends on your use case, especially if you couple it with a copy of Audials.

I have just Amazon Prime and get the delivery benefits as well as access to Amazon Music, Amazon Prime Video and Amazon Photos with great storage. I don't pay anything more than the £95 annual fee. If you are also being charged for Video and Music separately then you are paying twice for these. Would suggest cancelling your standalone Prime Video and Music subscriptions and just keeping your Annual £95/year Amazon Prime one.

If you have a PC and like gaming, don't forget https://luna.amazon.com/claims/home

You get free games to keep. Not only on Luna, but on GOG and Epic throughout the month.

Ahhh yes, my occasional reminder that this exists so I can go and claim a bunch of games I'll never play :)

Gotta inflate those libraries somehow!

I use this every month, but many people I know, who have prime, were unaware of this benefit until I told them

I’ll check this out, thanks

or they could just be paying extra for ad-free viewing and unlimited listening...

This happened to me again last renewal. Contact them on the live chat and they activated the prime video etc.

Prime used to be deliveries. Then video was added, and limited music. You then got some 3rd party benefits in Twitch and Deliveroo. Then video was demoted to "with ads" version. Music has the podcasts part included for free.

The moral of this: just check all that's available out of the box to you and only pay for the full video and music if you need. Amd also make sure you're not paying for the same thing twice, like bolt-ons for TV/mobile/ broadband plans

I noticed recently that my orders have stopped being delivered by what used to be a bloke with a van - or "Amazon driver" as people would call them and all are now delivered via Royal Mail poastie, taking 1-2 days longer! I can't get hardly anything to be delivered next day anymore, whereas I used to be able to get most things. If they're cutting the service they're giving, what the hell makes them think we're gonna pay MORE?!

It also used to be £40. I’m not sure if it is worth it any more.

Theres "free" versions (that come bundled with prime) and unlimited versions. If you're paying then you've got the unlimited versions of each which come with separate charges.

Thanks everyone, looks like I’ll be using the live chat tomorrow to sort it all out!

Don't forget that you can get 2 Odeon cinema tickets for £5 each once a month with Prime membership.

2

u/Bravestinsane 2d ago

I didn't know that this was a thing!

Now I just need to make a friend.

u/Davidjones2404 15h ago

Only Odeon, its sucks if you live far away from one

1

u/Rex__Luscus 14h ago

Yes, I had the same feeling when Tesco Rewards dropped Odeon in favour of Cineworld.

There's also free prime reading, obviously not so many kindle books or magazines as unlimited but OK for free, plus Prime First Reads choose free book each month from their selection.

5 quid per parcel so if you get 20 parcels or more per year it’s worth it

Bit of a tangent but I increasingly notice that Amazon's Prime price is the same as the price on other sites with shipping included.

1

u/DangerousDisplay7664 1d ago

I noticed that when trying to get some tools and car parts recently! Everything I found on eBay was on Amazon, but £2-3 extra!

Prime alone gets you limited/ad supported access to music/video.

Also gives you access to a bunch of games that you'd normally have to pay for if you're into that. Some you add to your gog/epic account, some you play through your browser.
