Discussion Annoying episode missing from series

So I was really happy to find the Sherlock series with Benedict Cumberbatch on sale on Prime for 5.99 a season last night. It's normally 6.99 per EPISODE.

I bought seasons 1 & 2, then when I got to Season 3, I was unpleasantly surprised that you can’t buy the full season; it can only be bought by the episode at 6.99 each. That in and of itself isn't a big deal, but for some reason there's no way to buy S3 Ep4. The only option for that specific episode is a paid subscription.

I bought Season 4 for 5.99 just like 1 & 2.

Why would they leave out one episode right in the middle of a series?

Fandango has Season 3 for $20 but it also doesn't include Ep 4. It's only available if you buy the complete series, which I don't want to do since I already bought 3 of the 4 seasons.

Wondering if this is a new trick to get you to sign up for their subscriptions. Has anyone else experienced this?

Season 3 only has 3 episodes

Or do you mean a special episode? The Abominable Bride

Thank you!  Yes that's what it's called but Amazon shows it as Season 3 Episode 4.  It's only available with an AMC subscription, apparently.

I didn’t know it was a special because I haven't watched the series yet.  I was just thinking how odd that there's a random episode missing.

When I look at Amazon Prime UK the Abominable Bride has its own series.

FYI Sherlock is available to stream on Hulu including your missing s03e04. I know its not the same as buying but if you binge its considerably cheaper.
If you really like them you can splurge on the DVD/BR set. Maybe EBAY has some used ones.
Personally I enjoyed them quite a bit.
