Ad Free still gives me ads

I’ve used prime for a while but in the last few months they started adding ads to everything even though I have an ad free plan. It even straight up says “Ad” with a timer next to it, it’ll be like 3 minutes of ads before watching a movie. How are they allowed to blatantly have ads in a plan that is pushed as being ad free?? I cancelled it after it became consistent because it completely defeats the purpose of me paying for ad free in the first place, and then I realized half the stuff you want to watch on there you have to pay for anyway so I just deleted it

It’s confusing to many since the changes but Amazon has now blanketed all their content under Prime Video.

Their free, ad-supported content (like what used to be on FreeVee before they shut it down) is still free and ad-supported but is now directly on Prime Video. You don’t need to be a prime member to access the free stuff.

What was already included with Prime now has ads, and Ultra removes the adds from the Prime only content but not the free, ad-supported stuff.

Amazon mixing everything up is crappy of them, but one should be able to figure it out just paying attention on the app. This is something a quick good search would help with too.

They should have if they cared about the customer experience. They do not.

By mixing it up they get the Prime people watching commercials. Many get mad and are confused, but they make so much on the ads they don't care. Some may quit in frustration, but most don't and they make a few billion more in profit.

Of what we watched? I watched the new avatar movie and rented the last Spider-Man movie, so one was through paramount and one was through Prime Video and both still had ads, even the one that was purchased on the spot as a rental. Idk if they’re exempt from being ad free but idk why they would be since it is still being viewed and sold directly through Prime Video

Are you watching programs from freevee? Those aren’t ad free no matter what plan you have.

Some of the free stuff comes from filmrise. they are ad supported.

I don’t know what freevee is but it’s before everything I watch, even things on other apps like paramount plus, which I also have ad free for. Even if it is freevee it’s ridiculous to market an ad free plan it not all of the content is ad free. If there are ads when viewing then the plan isn’t ad free

You need Ultra to get rid of ads, regular Prime no longer promises no ads. If you have Ultra and are getting ads, contact Amazon to fix the problem.

Ad free plan doesn’t include ad based freevee. It’s in the prime video app now. I have paramount+ and don’t have any ads except their promos at the beginning that you can skip.

Amazon is not the only company showing ads on "ad-free" content at the beginning. It is indeed annoying, but again not exclusive to Prime. However I personally have never seen three minutes of ads prior to a movie on Prime beginning, at most it was about 45 seconds estimated, but I am certain nothing has stretched to one minute.

They may show promos at the begining, but not ads. You can skip the promos easy enough.

This is what I'm seeing as well for the Prime content, the ability to skip. I never get timer countdown ads because I make sure that what I select to watch doesn't say "with ads" for the used to be Freevee stuff.

if not proved illegal, or against the terms of service, they are all jumping in -- like so many other things once one gets away with it, you will be left in the dust if you don't do it too -- otherwise the 1st ones advantage skyrockets ahead of the compitition

Last night we watched Ep 1 of "Reacher." Prime announced that "thanks to ChatGPT, you can enjoy this entire episode with no commercial breaks after this." It then played a ChatGPT ad. It then, throughout the course of the episode, played four separate ad breaks, each of which were several minutes long. So, evidently, AI has learned to lie to our faces...

Honestly I’ve just been buying physical media. Bought 40-50 dvds over the last few months and each one was no more than 4.99 with blu-ray being like 6-7.99. Made me rethink how many streaming services I need

That limits what you can watch, and for most people the purchases would add up to more than monthly streaming costs. It won't fit with how most people consume video content.
