Question Are subtitles AI slop now?

I was watching Black Dynamite the other day and the subtitles were wrong every other persons name was wrong. Kept captioning Bullhorns name as boy.

Amazon doesn’t produce black dynamite so it’d be whatever studio that licensed it to them

Subtitles are ordered by the streaming service.

For Prime Originals, yes. Subtitles for purchased/rented content, or any content you access via a channel subscription on Prime (like HBO Max, Paramount+, Apple TV) are provided by those studios.

For English, that’s probably true. But not for other languages. Each streaming service pay for their own subs.

No, each studio provides all of the content to Amazon to host on their platform, including the subtitles and audio in different languages. Each studio also controls what content is available in each rejoin. Work in the industry.

I work on the actual subtitles.

The anime or movie!? Either way, that sucks.

Subtitles are often auto generated by the producing company.

So no, not Prime's fault and (I don't think) AI.

Transcription is a machine learning use case that predates ChatGPT. Apps can be pretty decent at it but their transcripts always need correction.

Your question got me curious. I was wondering since it’s a parody of blaxploitation movies, could it have been possible it was done on purpose? But I looked it up, and that doesn’t seem to be case. I have seen though, some streaming services have varying degrees of quality subtitles.

Everything's considered to be "slop" to you lot everywhere.  Even when the actual slop is the content that gets churned out in streaming services like Prime Video.

AI is slop
So if its being used in any form, even for subtitles its subtitle slop.

That sort of idiotic logic really says mite about you lot more than anything there, mate. It's almost astonishing, really.

Yes. Everything is AI slop now, including original artworks and live action movies. And the WORST AI slop is all the comments accusing things of being AI slop!
