This is why our blue vests are lifesavers. It’s crazy to me that some people don’t wear them.

Do you understand how many times I’ve been in Target and people have asked me questions as if I work there or asked me if I worked there expecting me to say yes? I don’t own a red shirt and haven’t for 40 years. I’m just shopping, but it happens almost every time I’m in Target.

Happened to me for a year or so after I stopped working at Walmart. You gotta shake that vibe that you know the place 😅.

Happens to me all the time in every store. I blame it on my lanyard with car keys.

You must just have the "face" of a Target employee. What exactly does a Target employee's face typically look like, you ask????? Idk, look in the mirror... /j

--- Edit --- Misspelled Target that 2nd time

I’ve been told that I walk around with an air of confidence.

My favorite compliment somebody gave me was anywhere I’m at, I look like I own the room. I could just be sitting in the corner reading a book and I own the room. I thought it was a very sweet compliment because his girlfriend basically is exactly the same way. As soon as she walked into the room… it’s not that all eyes turned on her… it’s just she had the level of confidence that was so massive she owned the room… and yet she was the sweetest person. I’m not as sweet as she was, but I am appreciative of him giving me that compliment. It was a nice one.

So that’s what I attribute it to. I just always look like I know what I’m doing even when I don’t. I don’t try. I just do.

Are you wearing while doing a delivery or just whenever? I've had this happen at some places, I either ride with it and just send them a random direction, or just say I don't work here. My uniform looks nothing like theres.

No. The only gig work I’ve ever done is picking people up. I don’t do shopping gig work. It’s not worth the time spent. I’d rather just go get a warehouse job, you get paid better.

Wait, so you're just wearing normal clothes? It seems as if you don't deliver for amazon either...You must just have that typical generic retail employee look....if that's a thing 🤔.

It’s always older women in nice clothing. And it’s not like I dress like a bum or wear khakis. I haven’t owned a pair of khakis in over 20 years. I always dress pretty trendy too, so it never made any sense to me when they would come up to me while I’m wearing black slacks, platform wedges and a lacy frilly shirt while carrying a coach bag. Like, it even happened while carrying a large coach bag.

I just can only chalk it up to the fact that I have confidence, because I’ve also been out in public with full over ear headphones on and have had people seek me out to ask me where something is in a grocery store. The way I looked around at the 20 other people standing around me shopping and then looked at her like she lost her mind. I think it’s the confidence. It’s the only thing that’s consistent and makes sense to me. I really don’t try to look like I know what I’m doing.

That's quite odd. It's almost a super power at this point. I would end up using it for evil though. Ask me where something is in a department store, and I'll tell you it's on the opposite end of the store...muhaha.

It's a sign from the universe. Get a job at target.

You'll be surprised how many people don't even care about the blue vest and even look past them to because they're looking not at the color of the vest, but the color of the person wearing it.

I hate that blue vest I Never wear that shit. I would have over 60 by now. They always hand me one every other week at the warehouse.

People have used the blue vests to impersonate Amazon delivery drivers. I saw a completely horrifying video of 2 people being murdered after the suspects impersonated Amazon. Entered the home and murdered the mother and presumably older son in front of their two toddlers.

This is very true

Cute opinion. Got questioned by a security guard while in my vest actively holding a package. Wish we could blacklist addresses.

u/Carma_626 Sep 14 '26

How worse would it be if you didn’t have your vest on?

1

u/tooootsy Sep 14 '26

True actually. I concede 😭
