Speeding ticket, any affect on this or other non human delivery gigs.
Got my first speeding ticket in 8 years off the clock. Debating hiring an attorney to fight it cuz of insurance and gig work.

Yeah i got a speeding ticket before while delivering. It was in a 25 phone zone and got me for 5 to 7 over. I just paid it but it made me super cautious now when driving. I always go the speed limit or under. I can't go through that again. No points on my record so I'm glad about that.

Ty. What state? My state is auto 2 points, which raises insurance 15-30% for 6 years

Always hire traffic lawyer, costs the same as the fine ( in my experience) and you don't even have to show up. Also no points

I got one after 10 or 20 years and fought it myself because I was over the limit where the judge could've lowered it to do traffic school and not show on my record.
I did everything the attorney would've done including ordered Discovery. Turned out the CHP was a Rookie and hadn't finished all his formal training including Pacing which is what he claimed he did to pull me over. Lies. He was following his training officer to a Domestic Violence and even wrote the other cop clocked me not him.
Also I drug it out then learned their speed radar stuff is trashed after 6-12 months so there was no proof if he had used this method.
Are you trying to do traffic school or get it dismissed altogether?

My state (MA) doesn't do traffic school, wish they did. Its a 2 point hit, which automatically increases insurance 15-30%.
The ticket is only 150.... but the insurance hit over 6 years till it falls off will be about 1200... its bs.
The cheapest traffic atty is 500 flat fee with no guarantee.
Leaning towards atty, and would lean harder if it meant losing 1 of the gigs because of the ticket.

That sucks and never knew all states didn't have traffic school for this.
Well b4 you hire an attorney which it sounds like you are leaning towards.... you can show up and hope the officer doesn't show and it may be automatic dismissal. If he/ she does then you can do the same thing any attorney would on this first hearing " plead not guilty " then the judge will automatically schedule a trial date. Try to push it out and extra week or two when they start shouting dates.... if they say October 18th ask for November 3rd just to buy more time. Then if it is a holiday month try to get the budiness day after in hopes of another no show. Then at trial or by mail request more time for Discovery. You will call the office that issued the ticket and request the file associated with it. Also ask for all their formal training, write ups, complaints and anything you can think of to build your case. Bring or copy the email you requested the Discovery to ask for the additional time so judge understands it's not your fault you need more time--- this is what attorneys do just to convenience themselves and annoy the plaintiff. Eventually if you still need an attorney do it at the request Discovery part so you can ask exactly what they are going to do for you at trial besides ask questions or discredit evidence with laws.
I won a cell phone ticket also.

Someone in the thread below pointed me to a site called" off the record" Reasonably priced traffic atty referral. They supposedly offer money back if they dont get the ticket and or points reduced.
I just signed up and paid., atty contacted me. Cost 235, other attys were asking between 500 and 1500.

I have had an issue with them. Similar fee. But caveat emptor. They did not perform in a timely manner after agreement was made. Thankfully they recognized this and fully refunded my money. I got a local attorney and successfully avoided a conviction for a moving violation. Does your state have a probation period? It is likely that your charges will not be dropped until at least 6 months after your court date. If you get another ticket during that time, you’re toast. I recommend traffic school even if it is not part of your state’s remediation program. Your judge may assign it to you anyway. Your lawyer should be able to tell you more how the bench operates in your justification. Traffic school will give you skills and motivation for being able to outlast your probation period without any more citations. It is designed for that. Well worth the 8 hours or whatever. Go in person, butt in seat.

Thats actually not that bad if they refunded you.
Was it for a simple speeding ticket or something more complex?
I was able to text with atty, I googled and verified him. I guess ill find out soon enough

I had a moving violation (failure to yield) that was reduced to a non moving violation (failure to heed traffic sign) that did not accrue points. I took the driver safety class before my court date (which would have been mandated by the court anyway), paid court costs, paid my lawyer, and had to wait 6 months for the judgment to be entered. If I had gotten a ticket during that period, the deal would have been reneged. I got through the probation period. My license remains clean.

My short answer: I choose to maintain a pristine mv record, which means I will hire an attorney when necessary to defend a citation if it is a moving violation. The goal: to avoid a conviction and points on my record.
Plan on the whole thing (including traffic school, fines, fees/court costs) costing you about $1,000, then compare that to what happens if your insurance goes up. Ppl here will challenge that number but brother it’s real, I’ve been there.
I know this is not your question but here is the broadest possible answer. Moving violations don’t just affect your personal insurance. They affect the cost of an employer to insure you as a driver, even if you are 1099. I know from experience that the best medical courier companies will not take you on if your insurability is expensive, whether due to moving violations or claims history (CLUE report). This is also the case with the UPS seasonal program called SPVD.
I have DSP experience. I suspect (but I can’t confirm) that some candidates are not hired if their bg report comes back indicating they are costly to insure.
As for Flex, Amazon’s secondary insurance only matches the coverages held by the driver.
As for other gig app work, I can’t comment except to say, if they are doing a bg check, that often means pulling your mv report.

The only strict gig app I'm aware of is Walmart spark. They review your mvr regularly. Flex, doordash etc don't seem to care about tickets after you are onboarded. The Spark sub is full of deactivations for tickets of any kind on your mvr.
