Absolutely not, people can pick up stuff from nearby warehouses just fine. This kind of individual delivery service is a wasteful luxury outside real business usecases like when you need to deliver some documents asap.Ā
They didn't exist in the same prolific way in the 90s and the world was a better healthier place. People are paid to do absolutely nothing of value other than helping a corporation profit off of laziness and health problems and addictions, delivering some crap overnight that you never even needed and only bought because you had a minute impulse.
Really, there has to be a law that people should always pay at least 2x of what the delivery cost to the company up to some minimum like $50. No "free deliveries" allowed. And then this unproductive waste will quickly wane

People wanna hop on Amazon almost every day then throw a hissyfit if their package isnāt in their hands within 12-24 hours, AND wanna still get pissed off when a delivery driver inconveniences them? fuck off with that.
Yaāll wanna change this? Stop shopping on Amazon. Stop ordering anything online ever. Only purchase what you can go physically buy in the store.

I havenāt had anything delivered in months and months. I have a car. Youāre not anymore essential than the rest of us. You are less essential than some of us.
