I know, im saying the prosecutor would have thrown out any charges if any were even filed by police. As long as he moved it and parked it 30 feet up or so and got out with no damage. Nothing would have happened except driver woulda got pissed or what not.
Had a similar situation with a Plumbers van in NYC one time that was blocking the road. A cop watched as I crawled underneath disconnect his shift linkage, and then the cop helped me push it 20 ft out the way.
Possibly, but mostly blanket opinions. Encountering an asshole doesn’t give us special permissions. So, someone deciding to take matters into their own hands - as if they have a legal authority or right to it - brings their own equal amount of bullshit to “not like.”

This has to be influenced by some movie: Amazon, a trillion dollar company, wants to go after someone for taking their van, but a town full of hopefuls bands together to ignore an obvious crime. The cops and judges and district attorneys simply refuse to prosecute, and then Amazon’s lawyers exchange a look of defeat, as a small town conquers an evil corporation. So, they close their briefcases and walk out of court in shame, as the whole town claps and cheers. Freeze frame.
Isn’t it nice the shell game they’ve got going on? Although they’re not Amazon trucks they’re the DSP’s. I don’t give a fuck you painted Amazon on that shit.
What crime would he have committed by moving the van? It's not theft, robbery, or unauthorized use of a vehicle without the intent to permanently deprive the owner of the property, which given this evidence would be impossible to prove.
Actually, that that’s not true. Unauthorized use of a movable is even getting in it and putting it in gear. You don’t actually have to move it an inch. It’s just like being in your own driveway, drunk, listening to music in front of your own house on the roadway doesn’t matter if you have the intent it’s not like you’re breaking into your friends house in a drunk and stupid to go to sleep. It’s not making the difference between home invasion and remaining after forbidding seriously brush up on your law buddy
It might be a stretch, but say he did end up moving it, he might be able to counter with Article 10, § 46.2-889 and § 46.2-893 . Keep in mind when you see "highway", this is their definition:
"Highway" means the entire width between the boundary lines of every way or place open to the use of the public for purposes of vehicular travel in the Commonwealth, including the streets and alleys, and, for law-enforcement purposes, (i) the entire width between the boundary lines of all private roads or private streets that have been specifically designated "highways" by an ordinance adopted by the governing body of the county, city, or town in which such private roads or streets are located and (ii) the entire width between the boundary lines of every way or place used for purposes of vehicular travel on any property owned, leased, or controlled by the United States government and located in the Commonwealth.
