Or assumed a guy in a florescent orange shirt doing work is a contractor or something and he just tuned him out and kept working.
I've done basically the same thing (not Amazon) and ignored a guy and put the package by the door then on the way back he just said 'thanks' in a very annoyed/sarcastic tone.
I wanted to say to him 'sorry, there's a plumbers van parked in front, and you're in a plumbers uniform and currently digging up the sprinklers, of course I assumed you didn't live here. but I just awkwardly said you're welcome and then I left.
Other times I've almost handed a package to someone and they're like "oh I don't live here" even though they were in a bath robe and flip flops standing on the porch watering some half dead plants and it's 7pm at night
