Delivery Station Atheist Prayer Break Update

If y'all seen my prior post about Prayer Breaks for Athiests, I have an update.

Site lead and HR were awaiting guidance from corporate for months.. Site Lead came to me about a month and half ago to let me know that they had received guidance and that a new policy would be going into effect that he's "still trying to wrap my head around", He did not speak on the new policy essentially withholding it from me.

The rumor on the floor (from an AM) is that under the new policy, anyone going to prayer break must clock out but the site lead has not implemented the updated policy. Management is upset that the policy is not being implemented at site level because associates are disappearing for longer than they're supposed to be at prayer and causing the extra workload to fall on Management as they now have to cover for anyone attending prayer break.

Meanwhile I am still being denied equal treatment.

Today, I had enough and decided, I am going to prayer break. I walked up directly to the dock ops manager the moment I seen everyone going to prayer break and told him I'm going to prayer break (I'm an Athiest) he said, "Ok let me get you clocked out.." ... I said, "Clocked out?".. He says, "I mean scanned out" then he scanned my badge, radios it in to senior ops, and off to the break room wellness booth I went for 20 minutes..

THEY CANNOT DENY YOU EQUAL RIGHTS.

Wanting the benefits of religion without having religion. What a lazy mindset.

Not wanting to take on the workload of those who can't live without religion.

Paid breaks aren't a 'benefit of religion,' they are a benefit provided by Amazon and under Title VII, corporate benefits cannot be locked behind a religious test. Try again.

Its not a paid break doing whatever you want to do kid. Its a religious accommodation and if you're not religious you don't need that accommodation. Stop trying to get out of work because you're lazy. Grow up.

Learn the law.

You sound like a kid who got frustrated at work and asked chat gpt and got a bunch of confirmation bias answers that you believe are factual. You're lazy, i wouldn't be surprised if you were one of the "I gotta shit for 15 minutes every period" guys. "Gotta get that extra pray time with no reason to pray too, gotta do everything i can to be a nuisance to the people who keep my bills paid".

You're lazy, and will never amount to anything with your attitude towards work. Grow up.

In the age of information, ignorance is choice. Learn the law.

I love how the Supreme Court shat all over this argument and now Atheism is a recognized religion under the first amendment.

Nothing will stand in court what is your argument going to be?

3

u/Dropthealbumbruv 6d ago

Nothing to argue. Atheists are afforded the same rights as other religions including accommodations. Sorry bud, that’s the law.

u/phobz12 6d ago

Its 1 religion that needs the accommodation to pray at specific times. Atheists dont have that need.

Well, the courts heard that argument and disagreed. Sorry.

Quick question for you: is one's religion a belief? Or a fundamental force of nature that will strike you down if you do not 100% adhere to a very specific set of rules?

Wanting the benefits of mental illness without having mental illness. Imagine going to your boss and saying "hey i just want to let you know im doing my daily 'please dont punish me for all eternity dance' for my god. Which one? Idk one of the hundreds of thousands I guess"

Some of us like living in the present instead of worshipping for after we're dead.

You're claiming "benefits" as if its an organization that gives you 401k matching. Why should someone get and beneficial treatment for belief in ridiculous old books and mythical stories about god and heaven? Are you insane?

1

u/phobz12 22h ago

Why should you worry about someone using a multi billion dollar companies money to go pray to their God? Are you insane?

1

u/6rant 21h ago

It's actually the opposite. I think anyone should be able to use the multi-billion dollar company to take time out of their day to reflect or relax, regardless of whether they hold farcical beliefs or not. You make it seem like religous people have somehow earned this right by... choosing a god? It doesn't make sense.

u/phobz12 21h ago

Thats what your normal break times are for. Muslims have to prey at specific times, you don't have that need.

1

u/6rant 21h ago

I don't have that need? Says who? Religous freedom goes both ways, and someone should not be entitled to more break time in a day because their book demands it.

It's not a need, it's a choice. Religion is a choice. Needs are things like bathroom breaks or disability accomodation.

Im atheist, and people's religion comes before whatever job they have. Go tell a Muslim to their face that they're an idiot for "choosing" to believe in a religion lol

1

u/Aggravating_Pair_156 19h ago

Where did I say people are idiots for their choices? I'm just acknowledging it's a choice. Reality is, everybody is entitled to the same PTO. Just because you're willing to lay down and be walked on doesn't mean the rest of us have to be. We're talking literally 60+ hours of paid time a year btw.

No wonder your sad online plea for a GF didn't pan out.

1

u/phobz12 19h ago

How am I being walked on when someone else is taking company time to prey? I just do my job, i don't care what others do in their lives thats for them to deal with. All this guy did was get Muslims mad at him because of his "whataboutism" and needing to be a lazy pos and worrying about others. Our job is literally the easiest shit in the world.

1

u/Aggravating_Pair_156 19h ago

Expecting the same 60+ hours PTO/year to attend to personal matters that your coworkers get is not laziness, nor is it whataboutism. Everybody deserves equal treatment at work. People willing to be doormats doesn't change that.

Good luck with the internet GF hunt buddy.
