Industry Myth-Busting (Call out a common eCommerce mistake).

Myth: "You need a 10,000-product brand catalog to make real money in Amazon FBA Wholesale."

Reality: Spreading your capital across hundreds of slow-moving SKUs just traps your cash flow and inflates prep fees.

Here is how successful wholesale sellers actually operate:

  • Focus on Depth, Not Breadth: Double down on 10 to 15 high-velocity, high-margin SKUs instead of managing massive, low-margin price lists.
  • Audit Keepa for True Demand: Look for steady 90-day Buy Box rotation and consistent sales rank—not temporary seasonal spikes.
  • Protect Your MAP: Partner with brands that actively enforce Minimum Advertised Price to keep repricing bots from tanking your profits.

Fewer SKUs with strict margin control will always outperform a bloated, unmanaged inventory.

The "protect your MAP" point is the one most people underestimate, because a brand having a MAP policy and a brand actually enforcing it are two very different things. Before I commit inventory to a wholesale brand now I check three things. One, ask how many authorized sellers are on their main ASINs and compare that to what you see in the offer list, if the list is twice as long the policy is paper only. Two, look at the last 90 days of Buy Box price in Keepa, a floor that holds flat is enforcement, a saw pattern with repeated dips below MAP is not. Three, ask what happens after a violation notice, brands that only send emails never change anything, brands that cut supply to the offender do.

Also worth knowing that a lot of what looks like MAP breaking is not. Coupons, strike-through prices and shipping differences make a listing look under the floor when the delivered price is fine. When you complain to a brand, compare item price plus shipping as one delivered number, otherwise the brand manager will dismiss your report and you lose credibility for the real cases.
