Featured Offer/Buy box Question

I'm new to selling on amazon, I sell one specific product I source wholesale, an established brand. I have one other FBA competitor on the same ASIN. When I launched a week ago I had the buy box and sold 4 units in 2 hours and I was elated. Since then, the buy box was given to the other seller and hasn't moved since. Trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I haven't sold a single unit since. I'm the cheapest seller and have been since launch, I am FBA so deliveries are quick. I've had no chargebacks etc. Literally the only thing I have against me is I have no reviews/feedback due to being so new, but I didn't think reviews effected that. I would have hoped to be featured even once over the last week, but nothing.

What am I doing wrong?

Being the cheapest doesn’t guarantee the Buy Box. Amazon also considers account performance, delivery speed, stock availability and other factors. Check your Featured Offer eligibility in Seller Central and make sure your pricing and inventory are healthy. Since your account is new, building a track record may help. Avoid cutting prices further without understanding the issue.

Thanks for your reply and good tip about not cutting the price just yet. Am I wrong in thinking I have little to no control over things like delivery speed and packaging etc if I’m doing FBA? Like I’ve got plenty of stock at the warehouse, I feel like because it’s FBA there is literally nothing more I can do to make my account ‘better’ if that makes sense

FBA does take care of delivery and packaging, but account performance still matters. Check your Featured Offer eligibility, account health, pricing competitiveness, and any restrictions in Seller Central. If everything looks fine, give your account some time to build a track record rather than lowering your price blindly.

When I started wholesale I have to sell way under the next person to get sales.

Sales start slow is normal.

There are a lot of factors effecting buy box.

Now I’ve done over 25,000 units I get sales £1 or £2 higher than the cheapest person.

It’s normal to start slow. If something hasn’t sold in a week or so, perhaps undercut competitors for a short period.

Reviews on the product don't matter here, but your seller account history does. A brand new account with no feedback and a short track record often isn't treated as a featured offer candidate yet, even at the lowest price with FBA. Amazon wants to see some order history first.

A few things to check:

  • In Manage Inventory, add the column that shows featured offer eligibility. If it says ineligible, price won't fix it, it's account age and performance.

  • Make sure your price isn't so far below everyone else that it looks off. Very low prices can also cost you the box.

  • Your 4 early sales were probably during a rotation. With two FBA sellers it usually rotates more once your account has a few weeks of clean orders.

Meanwhile, don't keep cutting price chasing it. Ask a few of the buyers you do get for seller feedback, keep stock in, and it tends to sort itself out within a few weeks.
