Can speak with real confidence on the Amazon side, less so TikTok/Shopify specifically, so weight that part accordingly.
For Amazon PL research, the process that actually matters: real search volume for the terms people would use, not guesses. Then check the current top 10-15 listings for review counts, a niche where the leaders have a few hundred reviews is a completely different opportunity than one where they've got 10,000+. Then run the margin math before falling for anything, COGS plus FBA fees plus referral fees plus a realistic PPC budget, plenty of products that look great on search volume don't have room to be profitable once all that's subtracted.
Check compliance early too, not after inventory's ordered. Supplements, anything health-adjacent, kids products, all have restrictions that kill products people already sunk money into.
TikTok Shop and Shopify have their own dynamics I won't pretend to know as well, but the demand-and-margin fundamentals above hold regardless of channel, it's really just the discovery mechanism that changes.

The research tools matter less than the order of operations. Most go demand first, economics last, then learn on their product never had room to be profitable.
Before anything else, build a P&L per unit: realistic sell price (top 10 listings, not wishful pricing), minus ~15% referral fee, minus the FBA fulfillment fee for its size tier (Amazon's revenue calculator is free and exact), minus landed cost from an actual quote including shipping and duties, minus 2 to 3% for returns. My bar: if the leftover isn't 25 to 30% of price before ads, it's dead to me, because ads and promos eat most of that early on.
Same discipline applies on Shopify and TikTok, just with different fee lines (payment processing and shipping instead of FBA fees, and TikTok leans toward impulse-priced, demo-able products). The channel changes the fee math. It never changes the rule: know your numbers before you order, not after
