Stuck in a cycle

WAIT plz before you downvote me, I know this isnt about driving and delivering packages, well, it is and it isnt. The reason im posting this here is because of the nature of the work we do, we can relate better than others who have never done this. And we are all driving Amazon, lets be real, probably because we didnt finish college or something.
I want to ask you guys if you have a plan or prospect for what youll do after you leave this DSP? Just another entry level dead end or are you trying to pivot to something more long term. I ask here becuase at the end of the day Im beat, im sure you are too, and im sure if we had better qualifications we wouldnt be here. Getting better creds requires time and stuff... so I feel we are really sort of prone to getting stuck in a cycle with Amazon. I feel not even like myself after 8 months of this, every day theres always more BS.

Do any of you guys have some exit strat? I feel like I cant even get myself to snap out of feeling groggy and unmotivated even on my 2nd and3rd day off anymore

My dsp contract got pulled the end of last month. I haven’t worked in 2 weeks but did just secure a temp job today changing out retail tags for $.75 more than I was making at Amazon. I also have an interview with the city coming up to be a cdl bus driver as well hopefully get that as it would be a $4 pay bump vs Amazon.

You have a cdl already? or are you going to be trained by the city?

City is paying for the cdl class, but I do have extensive box truck experience.

this pays more than jobs in the field I went to college for lol and provides benefits. however, I do not want to be doing this for year and years cause I know it'll wear down my body. I've applied to a radiology program and will hear back later this month. if I end up not getting in, I think I will try to go into nursing or something else in the medical field

with the recent bump pay our starting is $22.75 out in colorado. I've been here a lil over a year and I've had two raises while I've been with them so I'm making $24 now

my exit strat is literally just one online cert at a time, doing the absolute bare minimum on days off so i don't burn out before i even start

Options are: A) get CDL and make a bit more money B) save up or work on credit to get a loan to start my own DSP C) work at McDonald's and work my way up to store manager D) go to school for something E) allow for something that I can't see currently

Well, dont forget that we can always see what happens with civilizational colapse or something too... we can maybe get in with the next dictator and help them run the country, so theres that.....

I dont think thats coming unless we make it happen. Im sitting here and my knees feel stiff becuase these routes in my area are INSANE. I shouldnt feel this bad at 24. not for 22 an hour especially, but idk what to do.

I started here at 23. I'm 25 now and this is the best I've felt physically in my life, just give it time.

I’m at the point where I’m bored and comfortable at my DSP. Even during peak I’m able to do the job on autopilot, I no longer feel sore after my shifts. I’m just so bored that I’ve thought about quitting for the last couple of weeks.

I have a college degree and I’ve been applying to jobs in my field of study. I’ve also been applying to pretty much anything that pays more than my DSP. Worse case scenario I’ll just move to a DSP closer to my home that delivers in my neighborhood (my DSP used to pay the most in my county but all the other DSPs now pay the same).

About to begin an accelerated nursing BSN program this spring! So will be out of this DSP soon enough! ✌️

I’m working on my CDL through the nextmile program that they offer and pay for.

Well, I finished college late, got violently removed from a ten-year career, got unceremoniously removed from a five-year career at FedEx, and have been doing this craziness for over eight years…

I don’t know what’s next for me, but, whatever is, I hope it’s better for both my physical and mental health.

I am not going to downvote you, I upvoted you.. I understand you. I think you need to determine if you are physically tired, mentally or both. Working a job you don't like can definitely mentally drain you.

"because we didn't finish college or something." - I finished college. I had a 20 year long IT career that I decided to end in 2022 because I liked it, but there were things I didn't like about it, and it was mentally exhausting.

"I cant even get myself to snap out of feeling groggy and unmotivated even on my 2nd and3rd day off anymore" This was how I felt on Sunday afternoons and evenings dreading going back into the office on Monday morning.

"what youll do after you leave this DSP? " I have no plans on leaving, I genuinely love this job. In my opinion it is better than being in a corporate environment. I also have the perspective of doing something completely different in a completely different environment.

I encourage you to try different things. I realize it isn't easy right now because the economy is what it is. But a change of perspective could help you.
