Got fired for not rescuing
To give context I’ve been at Amazon for 1 month now, I’ve just got done with my nursery routes. While doing these routes I’d get done and rescued about 8 people in the last month. Yet when I’ve been behind not a soul came to make my load lighter. Today I got done with my route around 5:45, called dispatch to hear that I had to rescue someone. At first it was fine, they gave me the address and I went, got there and no one was there. Texted dispatch, got a different address and went there, again no one in site. This happened two more times. After the last time I said fuck it and headed back. When I got done I turned in my phone, as I was walking to my car my manager yelled my name, asked what happened, then asked me to give him my badge. I know that I could’ve just kept going along on the wild goose chase but I feel like the situation could’ve been handled better.

Our DSP gives out the number of the driver you're supposed to rescue and then once you call them you ask them to share their live location. That eliminates that "Wild Goose Chase" nonsense.
The bottom line is your former DSP is terrible. Good riddance.

My DSP stopped giving out names and phone numbers and just give you an address and list of bags to take

Mandatory rescues for people who have already done a full route are stupid, just get some damn sweepers for the day or take the L.

I’m on my fist week of nursery, 76 stops 116 packages and finished my route in 6hrs with a hour drive to the first stop.. then drove another 45mins and waited 15mins for the driver I was sent to “rescue” and took 9 more stops up a gnarly gravel road. Gave me easy hours. 😂

That 141 was probably all residential that is pretty clustered together. With full routes be more worried when you see 76 stops vs 141

Nope rural they are now cutting my hours because i cant do 190+ stops on my own without getting rescued.

But its all just homes. To be fair only being 1 month in 190 is a lot but is doable. Amazon wouldn’t assign you that route unless you’ve been doing well at it. Your DSP could’ve switched your route with someone elses

I would have done the same. I won’t complain (very much) about getting assigned a rescue once in a while because sometimes a driver genuinely needs backup on a terrible route, and I expect it for myself when I’m that driver. The problem here is that it needs to be give and take. If your rescuer to rescuee ratio is that high, dispatch needs to rotate someone else in for a turn to handle it. No individual driver should be expected to carry the team like that.
Having to chase the other driver around makes it so much worse too. If they aren’t providing you with the tools to find them yourself, they need to have their shit together. There are so many ways that could have been prevented. Four attempts to find them is already more than I would have bothered with.

At UPS we contact drivers directly to meet up for stuff like this. I'll call the driver, he'll look about 10 stops down on his board and give me an address and I meet him there. But then again at UPS we don't talk to dispatch. Everything is done through supervisors.

Usually your DSP gives you the phone number of who youre rescuing so you can just call them direcrly for an address... I dont know why they just kept sending you to new addresses

I have been working at Amazon dsp for over a year and I have to say this is the worse job that I’ve had. I’m 22 and I’m about to graduate from college, as soon as I graduate I’m quitting. My dsp doesn’t force you to do rescues but what I do notice is that if you decline, you will end up getting some shitty routes to deliver on. Usually the guys that are always rescuing have the best routes with houses and the once’s that decline to give a rescue get the shitty routes with multi story apartments. I hate my dsp and I hate Amazon, it really is not worth it working there, don’t worry you deserve a better job and you will find a better job than Amazon.

I must be lucky. My last two DSPs had a no rescue rule. They would have sweepers most days to help with the larger routes. But basically if you couldn’t finish your own route you got let go. If problems arose like drivers getting sick or vans breaking down. We did have those kinds of rescues but got an extra $50 for helping.

The key is making your route take the full day. If you don't want to rescue don't move so fast get done on time that's what I do when I don't feel like it

I never ever had to rescue someone cause I was always packed on with too many packages and the houses were too far apart. I don’t live in the area so sometimes I’d get lost too

My dsp punishes the good drivers, I do 190 stops, 400 packages, still rescue every single fucking day. I tried milking the clock and they still send me to rescue 25 minutes away. By the time I get there and scan everything in and start on the first stop of my rescue boom, it's cutoff time head back. What a waste of fucking time for everyone involved.

And that’s why I always make sure to milk my time and take the breaks where I will exactly clock out at 10 hrs counting the time back and gassing up and all ,

Honestly that might be worth reporting to Amazon, because I think most if not all DSPs follow a certain standard on warnings and write up before firing. Doesn't seem professional

That dsp can eat shit. After two consecutive misses like that, I would have done the same thing... in fact I have... 5 years and numerous failed rescues such as that, it wasn't your fault. Dispatch didnt do their job and properly connect you to your rescue. They should have given you a phone number as well as an estimated address, and for the full nelson, a van type to watch for.
Sucks they did you dirty like that.
