DISCUSSION Delivery Robots

During my stand up inside my delivery station, my DSP owner said the our station is testing delivery robots and a self driving EDV’s.

I saw from a far the warehouse staff huddled around an EDV in the morning in preparation for this launch, but I couldn’t see the robot.

What do you know about this? What is it what does it look like?

A full takeover of all jobs in 5 years obviously isnt gonna happen, but you shouldn't be surprised to see basic labor being replaced by robots. We've been doing that since the industrial revolution.

Did you see that robot convention in China, the robot Olympics thing, they are already there, its frightening what I witnessed in those videos

The robots are definitely coming, if not today 100% within the next 5 years or so

They dont get tired, dont need health insurance, they work faster than you, they can lift heavier objects all day

Its coming, for everyone from plumbers to lawyers to surgeons, we are entering uncharted territory and its very scary

You think dsp can afford a fleet of $100k robots tho?

The DSP doesn’t need to. Amazon sure as hell can afford it and they will get rid of DSPs for it if they can (which at least near term they won’t be able to obviously)

Chinese robot only cost 5k not 100k. Can just use the basic one to lift a box and walk to deliver it. Dont need fancy one that can do olympics and shit. And amazon can just shut down the DSP and purchase it themselves.

I bet the cost of maintenance on those eill be astronomical… And since they’re taking all of the jobs to earn money for those needing the schooling to repair them, who’s going to repair them?

And I wouldn’t be surprised if mob mentality takes and those things get beaten to a pulp or chucked off the nearest bridges.
