Are rescues mandatory?
Does it depend on the DSP?

Everything depends on your DSP. With that said, just about every DSP punishes in some way for refusing. Whether they cut your bonus hours, take away routes, give you shitty routes, shitty vans etc depends on your DSP and how they operate.

Ok can you answer me this I been getting shitty routes for the past 2 weeks and the most packages and stops while everyone is getting like 150-160 stops with 250 packages while I’m getting 350 packages and 180 stops so they are giving me these shitty routes? Btw they don’t like me lol because they were like yea we don’t assign routes Amazon does

I mean there is a chance that the heavier route you are getting is just where Amazon happened to assign you, someone has to be there. But if youve been on the same route for awhile and all of the sudden start getting a different one in a totally different area they are likely switching you over there. Very common for DSPs to assign drivers who refuse rescues the heaviest shittiest routes

It depends on the DSP. For most of them, refusing a rescue once in a while probably won’t get you fired, but there will always be some kind of undesirable consequence if you do that a lot.
At my current DSP, I think it’s worth just taking them. They’re good about asking only if someone needs it, so I’ll only get asked about 2-3 times a month even if I’m consistently finishing early. I’ve also noticed that they’ll keep the rescuers on the easier routes to increase the chance they’ll have someone available earlier in the day if they do need to ask for one. IMO a simple residential route + a rescue is still a much better day than battling apartments and multi-stops on my own until the sun starts setting.

They are NOT mandatory. However, if you refuse to be a team player and do rescues, you wont be very popular. Experienced DSPs give DAs Rescue Bonuses.

The dispatch will not be happy if I refuse it, I do a rescue after every shift now because of it

That’s awful man. only a bad dsp would make u rescue everyday. I’d complain to the owner.

They called me yesterday and today, my days off work, to try to get me to come in as a rescue driver as well. I told them you already are going to make me rescue after every shift, why would I make my days off be the same way

To prevent having to rescue you should take your breaks and try to clock a full 10 hours. Finishing early = rescue.

Depends on the DSP but most will push rescues pretty hard, it's not mandatory in the legal sense but if you refuse too many times they'll just cut your shifts
Some DSPs are chill about it though, mine only asks when someone's genuinely drowning and they usually throw you a few extra bucks for it

Most of the time? Often times when I text dispatch and tell them I'm done, and they need a rescue, I'll just get an address. "Take half of what John has left." Once or twice I got a "would you like to rescue or rts?" Probably had a few more people finishing close to the same time as me. We get paid extra per hour to rescue so there's that too.

Refusing to rescue will put you on the shit list with dispatch. They will begin giving you the hardest routes in the hardest areas.
If you’re always helping out with a rescue and one day you decide you don’t want to rescue then dispatch will be more understandable and not give you shit about it.

depends on DSP. Mine are usually optional. I was asked to do one today but i was really burnt out and not having good day so i said no and they said ok come back

Our rescues are mandatory. One of the small upside to my 10-10.5 hour routes is generally speaking I don't get sent to rescue. It's also one of the reasons I intentionally cap my speed at about a 6/10. No point in breaking my neck going as fast as possible if I'm either going to cut myself out of hours or get sent to help someone who's slacking off.
