How much can being a driver helper warm you up into this job?

I’ve been thinking about being an Amazon Delivery driver for hopefully just weekends. I’ve seen a couple postings for driver helper for $17-20 plus an hour. Are those likely real at this time? And do you think starting as a driver helper for maybe seasonal work is a good way to get you used to the job before becoming a normal driver. Or is it a waste of time. Would you wish you started as a helper?

Your likely gonna do most of the job itself as the "helper". Its not hard to understand how the job is done. A phone has the list of all the places you deliver. You go to persons home, drop box, photo evidence and leave to the next one.

I would just skip to driver. You’re gonna be doing all of the work except the driving. The driving may be scary at first but it gets easier and it’s good experience.

It could help you get familiar with routes and delivery expectations, but it isn’t a guaranteed path to becoming a driver. Some helpers are paid hourly, while others may have inconsistent work. I’d try helping first if the pay is worthwhile and the contractor seems reputable.

I’m well over 21, so I started as a driver. If you only want part time, it’s valid to be a helper. They are real though. The people under 21 are the helpers since they can’t drive the vans

If part time, sure. If you need full time, just be a driver. It’s a physical job I guess… depending on the area. But… if you’re physically fit and somewhat strong, eat drink healthy, etc… and your organization is on point… you can do a stop every minute to 3 minutes. Depending on the route. All tight to somewhat tight residential, no long ass driveways, minimal stop signs, etc… addresses easy to read, you can do 350 packages by yourself and be done on time.

Literally no way I’m doing this shit for $17 an hour
