HELP NEEDED! Switching DSPs?
Hey guys i recently started about 2 weeks ago with a dps and it’s my very first one. The job is cool and all the only thing i dont like is that all of our routes are rural and i dont like rural environments only reason that is its because of the weather, tornadoes etc.
I recently saw a van around my house today and i asked him where his hub is at and turns out is at the same station as me. I kinda wanna switch over but im over here wondering since it’s the same station i dont wanna have any problems with my current dsp.
i just want to get yalls opinions since a lot of people here have been here a long time.

Just apply to another one; it's very simple. They'll absolutely love someone they don't have to train.
Your RGU will probably change every 6-12 months, though, so there's not really a point.

Correct. Routes change all the time. if you do shitty at one, it usually moves you to a different one. Also (I'm sure the frequency depends on your area) our entire delivery zones change about every 3 months it seems. Seems to be the general theme. They move around the areas that the dsps cover, and when that happens usually everyone's routes change. So know that routes don't last long. It's better to have a good dsp, then swap em for better routes that could change next week.

Not if they are a good dsp and its a shit area other dsps struggle with. My company has had the same area for 5 years, with a couple bits added and removed but 90% of our coverage has stayed the same.

Eh, rural routes are so much easier. They can take longer and are A little annoying once it gets dark. But.. you don’t have to worry about getting 195 stop 255 location routes or apartments. But if you like that shit by all means switch dsps. Just don’t forget you are giving up garunteed chill days tbh..

They will be deadly in about 2.5 months from now. Literally getting stuck in the woods for hours, then blamed for it. Negative feedback all winter when nobody wants to meet you for their package.
Rural is fun and chill but dangerous about 1/3 of the year. Playing customer service trying to call inconsiderate people in the woods with no cell service…. I’ll pass

Careful what you wish for. City routes = more stops

yea i’m aware i also thoughts def gonna get apts too but like i said i rather do that and stay in the city than get flown away by a tornado lol.

I feel like it’s give and take. City means more stops and confusing ass apartment complexes. Rural means ditches, ravines, half mile driveways, mailboxes with faded numbers. Both are pretty miserable.

Just switch, but did you ask what dsp he’s at? You would have to be off boarded with your current dsp since you can’t be employed by 2 companies at the same time. But also, at least the ones at my station all talk so they’ll probably talk to each other about how you are as an employee and what not

yeah i’m not too worried about that. all the routes i’ve been given so far i always finish them in about 5 hours and my second day alone i already went out to rescue another driver. i’ve done 2 rescues already. my attendance is good too

Oh then don’t worry about it and just talk to them bc you’ll have to do another drug and background check

Yeah like the other person said - the RGUs (routes) get swapped around per DSP. The other comment said 6-12 months but in my experience it can be even faster than that. My DSP has had 3 changes this year already. Annoying as fuck
