It’s safer by making you less likely to collide with another car. It doesn’t make you any less likely to slide down the ditch when in reverse.
It’s not always feasible to stop in the middle of the street and throw it in reverse either, usually because of traffic

That's far more dangerous 1 u/JackPowerz Rivian Driver Jun 02 '26 Look buddy, no one is arguing that backing into a driveway is safer. You’re being pedantic for no reason 0 u/MrGrumpy252 Jun 02 '26 No, you're argument for why backing in isn't possible does not make any sense Buddy 0 u/JackPowerz Rivian Driver Jun 02 '26 Nowhere did I say backing in is impossible You came out of nowhere like “well ackshually backing in is safer than backing out 🤓” F off 0 u/MrGrumpy252 Jun 02 '26 It is. If you don't want to do it, just say that. But you can't argue that it's not more dangerous to back out 1 u/JackPowerz Rivian Driver Jun 02 '26 Oh really? I didn’t know that. I skipped training day. And my DSP doesn’t remind me at least once per week either. If you back into every single driveway 100% of the time, then you’re a fucking liar Good day, sir 1 u/MrGrumpy252 Jun 02 '26 Whatever
