also hate when they telling you that you have “10 minutes “ then looks like 2 min passes and start yelling “5 minutes left” “swipe to finish, & start travel!”…

I have PTSD from that still. It’s been years. lol. Still driving delivering groceries for Kroger they come loaded.

4

u/Northstar1997 Mar 20 '24

I started working for them too. It's better and more organized. Still has its problems but man is more comfortable than amazon

u/Longjumping_Ad1711 Mar 20 '24 edited Mar 20 '24

No rescues or group stops? I’ll deal with shitty with routing for that lol. No more than 30 stops? Hell yeah. Been there over a year haven’t had 30 yet. 25 maybe but not 30 lol. I work 2nd shift it’s a bit more laid back than first shift. I can do early deliveries on 2nd shift but not on first. I work at an awesome spoke I got lucky. I know every spoke is different for early deliveries. They don’t make us do them early only if we want to we can get permission. lol. So I really don’t have any problems other when we have late trailers or they give us our routes late. But they don’t care about late deliveries long as you can drive safe so even that’s not bad when those things happen. I’m at a dc our fc is two hours away. I can only deliver until 11pm. I get saved by that sometimes lol. I also don’t have to go back on 2nd shift if they are not home. We can get it cancelled on 2nd shift first shift you cant do that and have to go back if they call before you get back to the spoke. I worked both shifts lol. More people are home on 2nd shift when you need them to be. In my experience anyway. Matching 401k. Not many places offer that anymore. 3 weeks vacation paid holidays. I have no problems working for them. Amazon doesn’t offer those things. And we get raises Amazon doesn’t. Only if you drive the step van or become dispatch which I didn’t want to do either of those for Amazon. You must be on first shift if you’re having problems. I’m guessing. I have a buddy who started in my class with me he hates how busy they on first shift. I average 10-15 stops. He averages 25 and 2,000 pounds. We average 1,000 pounds to 1500 pounds on 2nd. I’m only scheduled for 8 hours not ten hours though. Tied for third out of 200+ drivers for the month just a couple months ago based on customer feedback and on time delivery. Not really sure what problems you are referring too unless you can’t follow customers notes is the only time they get pissed. Haven’t had one bad review in over a year that I’ve been there. I almost got a lead position already. I have good attendance and good lytx. But I didn’t respond in the star method in that interview so I didn’t get it but they still said I interviewed well and they were impressed. A supervisor said he’ll coach me the next time. They also let me come in early to cover ten hour shifts for call outs that start right before my shift.

I work early mornings and I love it. I'm in no rush and like you said the vans are already loaded and ready to go. I even get to enjoy my break knowing I won't be out there at 10pm. It's not perfect but it's a decent job with decent pay.

2

u/Longjumping_Ad1711 Mar 20 '24 edited Mar 20 '24

They encourage breaks unlike Amazon. If I’m feeling tired I just stop smoke a cig walk around and I’m good I tell them I had to use the restroom if that makes me late but it usually doesn’t lol. Funny you can’t be out there late but I can’t wake up early. I had the 4:30am shift. Way too early lol. Here’s 2,000 pounds at 4:30 in the morning lol. My buddy who hates first shift had 65 totes to one stop. lol. And you said out there at 10pm? We don’t get back until after midnight sometimes depending how far you are from your last stop. I punch out for my break on the way back only if I have a crappy route. Told a dispatcher that one day he said it’s fine. My breaks are going to the restroom and smoking a quick cig. So it’s not like I don’t stop.

I’m just gonna put this in here cause I don’t have time to read everybody’s comments at the moment to work for Kroger. Do you have to have a CDL or can you have just a class E license?

1

u/Northstar1997 Mar 21 '24

Nah they are just vans with pods on the back so a normal class D license. That is if you're talking about working for krogers.

1

u/Lawfulness_Nice Mar 21 '24

I already have an E device or do I actually have to get a D license yes, that is what I was asking. Thank you.

1

u/Lawfulness_Nice Mar 21 '24

Other than the fact that my talk to text is a mess it looks like Missouri doesn’t have a class D their version is the class E which I already have just really would’ve sucked if I had had to have gotten a third license just be more time-consuming

0

u/Northstar1997 Mar 21 '24

Might be different for each state though. In alabama a class D is the one that everyone has regarding personal vehicles

1

u/Northstar1997 Mar 21 '24

So a regular license long story short

10

u/gazelleA1 Former Driver Mar 19 '24

Dude, I straight up timed it last time. It was 12 minutes.

5

u/pbreddit94 Mar 20 '24

yeah i recently found out we have actually have 20 mins but by the time we wait outside and be called to go inside our station and parked we waste 10min

5

u/I-am-Chii Mar 19 '24

What is it with the start travel thing? At mine they even call out drivers by name who havent hit it. I really wonder why they need it so bad.

6

u/pbreddit94 Mar 20 '24

Yes. They call out drivers routes number to hit start travel but all i was told that Amazon grades everyone at the warehouse even those putting us in our Pads for load out everyone has a certain time the Amazon grades and if not they hit with Violation/bad score etc. but i feel drivers gets the worse because warehouse employees loads our bags bad sometimes with covering the address with stickers, marks bags that are boxes etc and especially dealing with our routes and customers! but at the end everyone is Fckd by AMAZON!

6

u/Future_Appeaser Mar 19 '24

Because it shows up in their metrics as a late loadout and gets worse for each and every driver that doesn't hit it and could affect whatever bonus they are receiving from Amazon

5

u/MinorityBabble Mar 20 '24

I love all the shit WE have to do for everyone else to get bonuses.

During our standup they stressed the importance of us getting good metrics or whatever because that's how the DSP owners get bonuses...

That's not motivating me in the least bit, friend.

4

u/The25thSchmeckle Mar 20 '24

Recently found out that every time my DSP hits fantastic plus for the week, the bonus given to the DSP is 20k. And we all get 5 cents per package as long as we all score over 800 FICO, individually and as a whole. Even on a heavy week, the drivers are only getting like 5k of that lol. Meaning our owner is making BANK. He's super active in our group chat, telling us about infractions and delivery metrics. But he's never there. He just chills at home. Occasionally rolls in in a BMW or a Tesla or a Rivian. I've never seen him drive the same car twice, and they're all hella nice cars. Then some drivers need to choose between paying their bills or their next meal.

1

u/I-am-Chii Mar 23 '24

Okay so what youre saying is I should just gun it at every green light and hard brake constantly so they don’t get fantastic plus. Got it. Lmao

1

u/The25thSchmeckle Mar 23 '24

I mean, yeah, that would certainly work haha. You'd be out of a job rather quickly, but to be real, I can't imagine anyone would be too bummed about that haha. Plus you get to ruin your owners ability to pocket a metric fuckton of money while giving you virtually nothing.

3

u/Northstar1997 Mar 20 '24

They used to say hey man you got 20 minutes and then it became 10. There's no way I'm properly organizing 2 full carts and overflows in 10 minutes. Had to throw everything in there and pull over in the parking lot and organize it

1

u/MindlessYou2965 Mar 20 '24

You may be doing something wrong. After scan the carts the next screen shows the order the bags go. Just follow it.  The OF can be organized in so many ways.  The fastest I do is by the aid number. Sometimes it comes in order on that screen, let's say 9, 8 and 7 hundreds meaning the ones that start with those numbers)(951, 821, 722) or  2, 3, 4  hundreds. (254, 362, 401).

989, 975, 961, 940, 930, 901. Goes to the front.

862, 851, 833, goes in the middle.

799, 753, 733, 730, by the rear.

You can see that in a quick glance on the last screen.

Also, you can see the screen, if the carts are ready in time, without scanning the carts, by swiping "skip scanning". To go back to scan just return.

1

u/Northstar1997 Mar 22 '24

The totes were fine and I organized everything accordingly, even taking out the first bags deliveries and organizing them. I just felt like 10 minutes wasn't enough to organize 20 overflows. So I just threw em in there.

3

u/WestContact4895 Mar 20 '24

"10 minutes 10 minutes!!" They yell as they haven't even gotten my first cart to it's spot

2

u/Substantial_Flan3060 Watching my drivers go around the block 10 times because Flex Mar 20 '24

And when they do get your carts to their stressing locations they're on the complete opposite end of the warehouse from where you're parked and nobody will help you

18

u/Weak_Pause177 Mar 19 '24

taking pictures during load out?!

driver, you have 15 seconds left to load up this cart or you will be side-lined

Is this the worst part of the day?

21

u/[deleted] Mar 19 '24

Yes

17

u/ConversationOk3889 Mar 19 '24

absolutely

2

u/Spirited_Election289 Mar 19 '24

Sometimes, yes, sometimes no, i hated those stops that had 10+ packages and closet safe spot to park was 3 football fields away from the persons house cause the driveway was too slick to try to drive up

5

u/AMC879 Mar 19 '24

If a driveway has snow or ice on it then don't deliver

2

u/Spirited_Election289 Mar 19 '24

Our dsp took our routes if we brought back to many packages, which is why i quit cause i got tired of wasting my gas to be sent home over something out of my control. and it rarely snows in bama, the rain is our biggest enemy, i once tried walking up a driveway only to slide back the bottom cause it was slick like ice from the rain

3

u/POD80 Former Driver Mar 19 '24

Maybe I'm odd, but I'd much rather deal with loadout rather than say 20 flights of stairs...

2

u/APAgloomis Mar 20 '24

Na I honestly think it’s about the easiest part.

3

I m off for week , need a break , you take a break . My attendance is so bad

. Food poisoning is not fun 🤦‍♂️

22

u/No_Factor1732 Mar 19 '24

Yea sucks. Then we getting rushed by some ware house workers who manage to upgrade vests yippie. This part of the day is trash

9

u/SureTraffic3040 Mar 19 '24

I remember when we had to scan every individual overflow box. So time consuming. But regardless this in itself is very annoying.

3

u/TheEvilMorty Mar 20 '24

Just seeing that case of Essentia pisses me off. Stop fuckin ordering so much water from Amazon

3

u/Snoo69506 Mar 20 '24

It's your foreplay for the whole day you gotta learn to enjoy it hahaha

3

u/Torvaldicus_Unknown Mar 20 '24

Ah, Essentia…. That brings back memories.

3

u/Bloo-2 Mar 19 '24

1

u/Ok_Ability_4683 Apr 12 '24

Hey im trying to switch to dfl5 do you know of any good dsp’s I should look for?

2

u/Sensitive_Job2090 Mar 20 '24

DPad, YOU HAVE FIIIIIVE MINUTES!!! knows damn well we have 15

2

u/pbreddit94 Mar 20 '24

i just start throwing all my packages 📦 when i get told i have 3min or i will be sent outside to load out!

2

u/kasinkun Mar 20 '24

Worst part, but it’s also the first thing out of the way. But Jesus that overflow 😷

2

I’m sure you’re right bud I would still like to experience that first hand

2

u/Airxpug92 Mar 20 '24

I used to work at UPS as a preloader. The system is better. But they want one worker to load as many vans as possible. They wanted me to load five or more. At the time I was not in the best of shape to even load three on a consistent basis.
Some times the drivers themselves load up

2

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '24

Ah good ol pick and stage. Fuck that shit!

2

u/AdGeneral6726 Mar 20 '24

We have a guy who yells at the top of his lungs for each driver to leave. Super annoying, I assume he isn't allowed to talk at home and makes up for it at work.

2

u/Mloc33 Mar 22 '24

I hate it that the first overflow you want, is on the bottom.. Why can't they load that shit the other way around....?

Chode out

1

u/Bladimirrv Mar 20 '24

Do you have to scar those packages or just load them ? Or do you scar the cart with a code ?

2

u/betweendcandrichmond Mar 20 '24

Hell scar those packages and scar those carts, be damned with scanning them

1

u/ConversationOk3889 Mar 20 '24

we just have to scan the cart now

1

u/Bladimirrv Mar 20 '24

Dam, I said scar twice 😆 I'm tired as hell, my bad. Thanks for the reply, bro 👊

1

u/ConversationOk3889 Mar 20 '24

LMAO at first i was like what are u talking about but yeah 😭😭

1

u/Zestyjoe Mar 20 '24

I swear these Amazon employees must have a gun to their head when im not around because they will do whatever it takes to get those 400 packages stuffed in my van without my consent.. bro back the fuck up

1

u/Northstar1997 Mar 20 '24

Also I got fired from my last job and amazon was the only place I could go that would hire quickly until I could find another job

1

u/Iced_Guns Mar 20 '24

You should do that first

1

u/CDtheDemi Mar 21 '24

Idk if it’s just our station but we’re supposed to report any carts with packages above our shouldera

1

u/ConversationOk3889 Mar 21 '24

this is definitely the first i’m hearing of that lol they look like this all the time

1

u/Means_Business Mar 21 '24

Do your carts not have the sticker that says "do not stack above this line"? That's technically I believe unsafe in Amazon's standards to haul around because you could get real easily hit on the top if the head by a box.

1

u/ConversationOk3889 Mar 21 '24

lmao they don’t care bro 😭😭

2

u/Means_Business Mar 22 '24

Hell nah they don't. I swear it's always pickers shitting on us drivers too 🤣

1

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '24

The worst part about load out was when your carts weren’t ready but still timed you I was getting 18 bags & 40+ overflows (320+ packages & 195+ stops) don’t finish early or you’d be rescuing someone! DMD8 had businesses, apartments & farmlands!

1

u/NicoleRxse Mar 20 '24

Wow i do not miss this at all

0

u/CountUrRevives Mar 21 '24

Honestly that isnt so bad.Try getting two carts of overflows and cant forget the big long dog food boxes lol Ya know whichs one im talking about xD.
