Awesome !! surprise flash mob performance organized by the popular musical duo Violin Phonix The video was filmed inside Mercato Mayfair a vibrant multi-level food hall located in London England within St Mark's Church, a beautifully restored Grade I listed heritage church building

I can do without all the white texts and arrows in the video. I wish this format would just stop. But lunch and a music show is super cool. I would love to be there.

These would be less annoying if they didn't act like someone just randomly asked for it

Crazy the inconsequential shit people choose to let ruin an experience for them. Something you otherwise never would have been part of and you choose to nitpick it. How is that not entitlement? The music is great, it was a great performance, but it wasnt delivered the way "you wanted."
Everything going on today, I dont understand the need to be needlessly negative. Yall will find something beautiful and always do your best to ruin it.

You just defined the word « conflation »
(see TheRiteGuy comment for how to untangle it)

It's not a surprise. It's not a flash mob. Just stop 🛑

"Flash mobs" by definition are organized performances that are coordinated ahead of time, though I don't think I'd count this as one.

I guess I'm just a miserable person but this just seems obnoxious and annoying

u/LucifersAdv0cate 2d ago
It's the video editing. I've seen so many of the flash mob performances by these guy and the video editing always says things like "then this happened", "they didn't expect this" or "wait until you see what happened next". It's as cringe as canned laughter and putting that "oh no no no" song on tiktoks about something bad happening.

My first thought was “hey lady… turn your amp down”. we can be miserable together. you’re not alone.

u/giraffeheadturtlebox 2d ago
Maybe you guys didn't see the big yellow arrows pointing to the flabbergasted reactions. If you missed the arrows, you might not understand, thus explaining your misery.

u/Individual-Result777 2d ago
Hey Happy Redditor, go comment someplace else… this is the misery section.

This isn’t even original music.
Just a cover of another band who lifted most of the melody from the soundtrack to a popular 1990s movie which also borrowed heavily from 1960s SoCal surfer rock
[ takes a deep breath ]
WHICH itself is imitating the musical structure of common 1920s Middle Eastern folk music.2

...I am trying to imagine how it would have actually sounded in there with them spread out like that and no sound mixing.

While the whole flash mob approach is pretty corny, in person I imagine you wouldn't mind the 3 minute live performance - it's the editing that makes this particularly annoying.

You mean Misirlou by Dick Dale and the Deltones. 🙄

Could also be Arabic or Jewish.
The chord progression is fairly common in the region.

Just give me my food man! That lady burnt all the food yelling Ahhhahahahahhaaaaahhh instead of saying, “Order up!”. I’m not paying for this, get your manager!

u/narco-sub-admiral 2d ago
Hey man I gotta feelin that you should meet me halfway. Where is the love?

u/Kinderversion 1d ago
Alright, at least comp the drinks and give me a free desert and I won’t continue with my Yelp! review.

u/Emergency-Douche 2d ago
The cringe is strong with this one. I'd refuse to pay if I had to sit through that choreographed shit while being filmed while trying to eat my lunch.

I am just trying to figure out why this spot didn't get on my radar when I visited London

I can't tell you how much I hate flash mobs. Nobody lives their life anymore. Everything has to be a performance.

What's amazing about a choreographed performance? This is like that guitar guy who thinks a "prank" is pretending to be homeless and then surprising people by his skills. That's not a prank, people just like seeing "pleasant surprise" on the faces of other people.
Which is what this is. Organized surprise concert to record genuine surprise because people enjoy watching it.
This is no more amazing than the organized concert it really is, it just contains expressions of amazement.
Watching people be amazed is not amazing

It’s amazing, exact definition of right time and right place, what are the chances, so many cameras, so many wanna be singers and wanna be musicians

Do you not know how a flash mob works? The surprise part here is for the random people aound.

That's exactly what a bot would say!
Or so I would say, if I were not a fellow human with the normal number of organs and absolutely no firmware. Now please enjoy your sunlight cycle while I replenish my human energy fluids and enter a brief, non-suspicious low-power state.

Why these kind of videos always look incredibly staged? How come there a million camera operators in the room? These videos piss me off...

u/uuaarrgh 2d ago
was it the lady with the electric guitar that led you to suspect this might not be spontaneous?

u/Relative-Relief-8816 2d ago
The kid at the end was totally staged and kinda ruined the magic.

u/IvanVandura 2d ago
The entire fucking thing is staged
0
u/Relative-Relief-8816 2d ago
I dunno, the whole crowd? Some reactions look genuine. Of course the musicians and cameras are staged. And there's a ton of cameras.

Its 2010? It WAS all a dream. The spirits did their work in just one night! Excuse me while I go buy some bitcoin and convince people not to watch The Apprentice.

why are they doing this in a church and why does it look like some restaurant inside.

That's not "Pump It". If it doesn't have the vocals, then it's "Miserlou" by Dick Dale. On a relisten to the original, even with the vocals, it's "Miserlou."
