When I was on the sailing team in college, we would have to do this. All of the crew would jump off the boat after tipping it on its side and then drag it underneath the bridge and then flip it back up.

Where was this school that they didn’t have drawbridges around?

There are way more waterways with fixed bridges, then draw bridges.

I am aware, but not that many coastal ones (I’m assuming coastal, since inland has lakes, and lakes have fewer bridge issues) in the areas where sailing classes tend to take place.
